In The Pink

Our son, Mike, & the Cadillac

T-Shirts of the wait staff

Yesterday, we went with our family to The Pink Cadillac, a well known retro diner. So we quite literally ate dinner in the pink. The whole diner is pink, and is decorated to look like the 50’s. Even Formica tables and a jukebox. They have a real pink Cadillac out front as a landmark. This place has been around a long time, and has been very well reviewed. It’s almost an hour drive from home, but it was a nice fall evening and a fun thing to do. Here’s another pink Cadillac that’s even more famous. The ones that Mary Kay cosmetics sales people get. If a salesperson builds her team to 12 members and makes tons of money within a four month period, she is loaned a pink Cadillac. But after all that hard work, it’s still not a gift. She gets to lease it for two years, after which it’s re-painted and auctioned. G.M. has built about 100,000 pink Cadillacs, and the special paint treatment takes more than twice as long as a regular model. The shade of pink has been changed six times in four decades, and regular customers cannot buy a pink Cadillac from G.M., nor have one painted. It’s exclusive. Here’s something that’s not exclusive and not on loan, but free to all.. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23
