The Best Gift Of All

We celebrated Mother's Day today, a day late, because we all had plans on Sunday. Mother's Day has held very sorrowful memories for me since my own mom's death two years ago, but my children gave me a wonderful day. We went out for dinner, and here you see my granddaughter feeding me her ice-cream. The drawing is one she drew of me and her. Didn't she give me pretty curly hair and a festive outfit? It's nice to see that she thinks of me as being far prettier than I am. I also like it that she gave me a big smile and herself an even bigger one. I hope this means she thinks of me as happy, and making her happy. I love the picture of my son Mike and me. But what do you think my header is? Our extremly creative daughter-in-law made and gave me this necklace that you see around my neck. It is a picture of our granddaughter, made with a scrabble letter!! She makes and sells lovely and inventive jewelry. My son is beginning to remind me a bit of my own mom. An extremly hard worker, but also quiet and quite funny. He made me laugh today, seeing the humor in something that I had missed. And on this day that haunts me, perhaps that's the best gift of all.

"Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth." Psalm 127:3

Love, love, love your new necklace. That's a wonderful idea...I'll have to tell my dil .
I like your very useful feet. They look like you could rake very big fields of grass. These are treasures, indeed.

What a beautiful granddaughter you have. Spending time with our loved ones is the best gifts on holidays.

I noticed that beautiful face in the header right away. What a wonderful gift--the child and the necklace! I, too, missed my mother on Sunday. She loved all the attention the day brought. I enjoyed many happy memories of her.

Like Stephanie V, I thought the "rake" feet would be very handy in the fall. = )

Best,
Bonnie

A lovely post, Ginny. The necklace is wonderful.

I see a lot of you in your son. I thought he looks like Phil...maybe it's the hairline.

What a precious post, Ginny! I love the necklace, the pics, and especially the picture your granddaughter drew! It does indeed say so much about her perspective of your relationship. So sweet. And I really appreciate the Scripture - especially with two sons of my own. Glad you had a wonderful day!

Hi Ginny, Looks like you had a wonderful belated Mother's Day... There's nothing better than having a son beside you on your special day. I KNOW that feeling!!!

And that necklace, the picture, and just being with your granddaughter is so wonderful!!!! I think I felt your glorious smile all the way to Tennessee. You are such a beautiful person, Ginny. I am so proud to be your friend.

God Bless You... My Mother died in 1991 and I STILL miss her.

Hugs,
Betsy
