Cross

We have many geese and ducks around here, because the river is almost in our backyard. We frequently see them crossing the streets, sometimes with their babies following them. This is the reason for the crossing sign a couple blocks away. This evening we were passing by, and saw a large group of Canada Geese settling down in the grassy field to sleep. I was intrigued by the patterns they made with the stripes on their necks, so we pulled over and I took lots of pictures from the car window. Pretty soon they began to get agitated, and started standing up, honking, and flaping their wings. I looked all around, and couldn't figure out what had stirred them from their rest. I soon discovered it was me and my camera. They were very cross at me for disturbing their bedtime. But if they could read, they'd know that the book of Ephesians tells us not to go to bed so riled up. Sorry, guys, guess we shouldn't have crossed your path.

"Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold."
Ephesians 4:26

You make me smile...

And, now I know where the geese from down the street went - they flew to your backyard!!! ;o)

I love how you worked the pictures and Bible verse together.

hahaa.. Ginny, Oh Ginny, is that true.. how can your clicking of your camera disturb them.. maybe the car engine.. or the pollution.. of the exhaust pipe was the cause..
so cute!

I love that sign, we have a couple of those here. They always make me smile. It isn't unusual to see traffic stopped in the spring time as mama and babies cross a road.

You got some really great shots of the Canada geese Ginny.

is this the final destination for the Canadian geese when they fly south?

I've always enjoyed Geese- great capture of and view of these birds you pestered! My love bird doesn't like getting photographed- he'll even charge my camera! Well, my mom used to always say that- pretty good reminder too!

They certainly are beautiful!

I love the sign...thanks for the chuckle! And you got some great pictures. I realized recently that crows get very agitated when I keep moving about with my camera.

Have a great week, Ginny!

The geese are always good photo subjects, even when they are upset, which seems to be often.
A good verse to remember.

I think some geese are mentally challenged. :) Seriously, we had geese build a nest right behind the entrance door to Fazoli's (restaurant for those who don't know) and they would hiss at you when you went in. There is a field right beside the restaurant so that's the reason I think some are mentally challenged. :)

That's a good word of advice which I wish I always lived by. Tho I try...it still happens occasionally - but thank God - not as often as it used to. ☻

think what a wonderful world we would live in if all of us abided by this one scripture.
the sign should say Geese Crossing don't ya think? ha ha. great shots and i know they forgave you for messing up their evening rest with that clicking camera. each time i open your blog those golden trees take my breath away. we are at 60 degrees this morning and i am doing a happy dance

The geese were probably just annoyed that it was time to head south for the winter. Here's a question: Is Florida overrun by Canada geese in the winter?

Best,
Bonnie

Hi Ginny, Your title made me think the geese were all going to be lined up in the form of a perfect CROSS.....

Guess you were disturbing their beauty sleep..... Maybe they didn't want their picture taken.... ha

Someone should mark out the word 'duck' on the sign and put 'GEESE'.... ha

Have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Betsy

It does nothing much for a good night's rest to go to bed angry, does it! A great verse to live by!

Like the others, I think the sign should be much more inclusive, lol, like feathered friends crossing, or something like that - so no one feels left out!! Chuckling here!

In my sister's town there is a sign like that too. The locals all know it, but someone from out of town can drive speed limit around this corner and suddenly find all the cars in front of him stopped to let the geese cross. I'm always very cautious around there lest I get rear-ended! There's no place to pull over and watch them either. Glad you got all these wonderful photos! Sure glad the geese all find their way back in the spring! Tell them Karin says HI!

Just proves that geese can't read...clearly says 'duck crossing'.

There's a park in my parent's hometown that has hundreds of geese and ducks. It's near a major highway and they have similar signs.
You got some nice pictures, although I'm sorry the geese got cross with you and your camera.

I love the geese...even saw a flock here yesterday. I'm not sure they were Canada geese. We do have some who stay here all year long.

I'm not coming this weekend with Sarah..waiting a week or so to let her get settled. I hope there will still be lots of fall color.

Beautiful pics! They are so pretty! BTW -- the reason Ozabella didn't have her surgery is because she got a "girl" problem....whatever THAT means....so it is postponed for awhile. Thank you for your post, we appreciated it.

I often see geese in the park where I go every morning to take a walk. They are migrating south again so their numbers are increasing.

I do try to never retire while angry or upset as it never gives a restful sleep!

I love seeing geese fly over and hearing them also.
Great picture in your header also.

Hi Ginny, Wonderful photographs of the Canada Geese! I love the one of the flock resting with their heads tucked in. Have a great evening and a super good day tomorrow!

These are so, so cute! they totally made me smile. And made me think of that verse (I forget where) when God compares his love for his children to a mother hen gathering her young.
