I ran into an old friend this week, Mr. Groundhog!! This is the first one I've seen this year, and I like to post at least one a year. Seeing a groundhog is a sure sign of spring! He was out fattening up after a long hibernation. I know I've said this before, but when they hibernate, their body temperature goes from 99 to 38 degrees and they breathe only four times a minute. Scientists have found an actual substance in the blood called Hibernation Inducement Trigger. Other than that, the process is largely a mystery. Many of us have been impatient for spring to come because the winter has lingered so very long. But the groundhog has come to tell you that your wait is over!!
"Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield it's valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near." James 5:7
