Tasting

Can you taste the joy? Our five year old granddaughter Anne Marie lives just a few blocks away, so we are very fortunate to be able to see her quite a bit and spend quality time with her. Several months ago, she spent the evening with us, and we took her to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. And they just happened to be serving their annual peppermint milk shakes. Can you remember the last time you enjoyed a shake this much? Anne lives in the moment and makes the very most of it. I think that is one of the reasons we love to watch children so much, they know the secret to happiness. Their feelings are totally transparent and there for anyone to see, and they do not worry about the past or the future. A while ago, little Ella asked me for something, and I told her "later". Her reply was both innocent and wise: "Ginny, later is a long time." It sure is. Milkshakes are great, but here is the best taste in the world.

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him."  Psalm 34:8

Right you are Ginny.

I love those pictures of your sweet granddaughter.

How cute - later is so long away - kids do think that way don't they?

To us time is different.

Love the taste of the Lord.

Hi Ginny, It's refreshing to see the joy of a child. As adults, we often forget to enjoy the little things! You have a beautiful granddaughter!

What wonderful images that capture that childhood capacity for sqeezing every bit of enjoyment out of each momrnt. And I loved the photos revealing how grand children help their grandparents reactivate that childhood "in-the-moment capacity!"An inspiring way to start my day. Thanks, Ginny!

It reminds me of something my dad always told me when I ate watermelon. I tend to eat the outside first and save that sweet seedless center for last. But he said that if you started in the middle and ate outward, you always had the best last... the best was always what you had left. I guess that is so... still, I eat watermelon the same way today... just that familial stubborn streak I guess.

I love the way you bring the word of the Lord into your posts. I know I have told you that before but I felt I should say it again. It's never forceful it is just there. Just as it should be. That shake looks really good. I just had a mocha coconut frozen frappachino but it was made with soy milk. I think I am fully lactose intolerant now...no more ice cream. But, there is always sorbet.
