A Tisket, A Tasket

A tisket. A tasket.
A green and yellow basket.
I bought a basket for my mom
And on the way I dropped it.

I dropped it. I dropped it.
Yes, on the way I dropped it.
A little girlie picked it up and took it to the market.

A tisket. A tasket.
She took my yellow basket.
And if she doesn't bring it back
I think that I shall die.

A tisket. A tasket.
See these cute little baskets?
We passed them in a yard nearby.
I snapped and wondered what and why.

Up to the door goes Phil to ask.
Do these tiny baskets perform a task?
Now put your guessing caps on tight.
Do these do more than just delight?

LOL!! Ginny, I feel like there should be some kind of Mission impossible music in the background. You and Phil have become quite a team. Well... maybe Mission Impossible is not the right music... but you know what I mean. I can't wait to see what you all have in store for us next!!!
I have visions of Phil knocking on my door, and when I answer it he says, 'yea, is that an ear that's growing out of the ground in your back yard?? HAHA!...
Oh, and these baskets are lovely... just like the poem.

My guess would be some kind of bird feeder also. They sure are cute and so is your little rhyme!

That rhyme has a tune, I was singing it as I was reading it. I am remembering someone singing it to me so long ago. Now who was that?

Very cute baskets but I don't have a clue as to how they are used.

I love the nursery rhyme. I remember my great-grandma teaching it to me. What a lovely memory.

Have a blessed week Ginny.

but what are they actually for? I remember reading this poem.

I'm going to be humming that song the rest of the night and probably tomorrow too, love it.

Those are just pretty, I would like them in my garden just for looks. The baskets look like they are made of metal and have a little lid on top. I'm going to guess they are for candles, that would be so pretty at night.

How sweet the poem was ! I think the cute little yellow baskets could serve as bird feeders.

Man your eyes are open everywhere you go! Those are so cute. Have no idea if they are used for anything. I'll say they are decorations and pretty ones at that.

My first thought was bird feeder also. I can't wait to see the answer.

Poor Phil! You are really paying him back for getting lost all those times and leaving you stuck in the car in questionable neighborhoods LOL

I guess it's for bird's to build their nests...maybe hummingbirds?

In answer to your burning question, Ginny:

I like fluffy, long haired dogs (and cats) and always bathed and clipped him myself, but this year has been exceptionally hot and he's getting older, so I want him to be as comfortable as possible...and now I'll keep him trimmed in the summer, but allow his hair to grow back in the winter.

H Ginny, As a teacher of young kids way back in the day, my class often played that singing game during P.E. or at recess at school. Brings back memories. Pretty baskets for bird peanuts or sunflower seeds, I am guessing. Have a great day!

I enjoyed reading the "Tisket Tasket" rhyme again as I haven't thought of it in many years, Ginny!

My guess would be they are bird feeders of some sort ..or did they hold straw or string for the birds to use as nesting materiel?

Ann said...

So Phil went a knocking on another door huh?....lol
The first thing I thought of was that they held a tea light or citronella candle but I don't think that's right. I have no idea

Gosh, that's just so pretty... I'd like to have one too.

Do they hold an insect repellent? I'm really clueless - but then we both knew that:-). Have a wonderful day, Ginny. Blessings...Mary

I don't know but I'll certainly be checking when you reveal it to us!

I've heard the first couple verses of that poem before, but that's all.
