All Things Are New

Well, what have we hiding here behind the leaves? It's a cardinal, and a very sick looking one at that. But he's not really sick, he's just molting. Molting is a process where creatures lose their skin or feathers to get new ones. A bird's feathers are really dead, kind of like our hair or nails, so they shed them every once in a while and get new. I made a robin craft with our granddaughter a few days ago, and we made him look fat and happy. Or maybe just fat and goofy. Hmmm...perhaps a few more feathers would have been in order. We will eventually shed our old bodies at some point and get wonderful new ones, ones that will never get old or hurt or get sick again!

"And just as we have born the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven...For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed...Death has been swallowed up in victory."
1 Corinthians 15
