Feeding Time

I was very excited to photograph this mother grackle feeding her baby. The baby kept it's beak open and fluttered constantly, and seemed to never get full. And the mom didn't mind at all, she hurried back and forth to find her baby the juiciest morsels. But here is the hardest person to feed ever, and probably one of the the hardest bible verses to obey.

"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

Cute, Ginny... Love seeing the parents (usually the Daddy) feed the little ones... Isn't it ironic that most of the 'little ones' are as large as their parents by now??????

Great pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy

That is a hard verse to obey!! May God give the strength, for in our own we can't even begin to do this.

Have always loved watching birds feeding their young. Remind me of teenagers who seem to have hollow legs! You can keep shoving in more and more and they never seem full. Fortunately for the birds the Lord provides it for free! It's only us humans who have to pay coin for the food we consume! Great pics!!

God feeds the birds and the animals.. we are His children.. He will surely take care of us too!

That is so sweet, I would have been excited too. I am always amazed at how much the little ones seem to eat, it certainly keeps their parents busy.

You were really good to capture the baby with his mouth open so wide - that's adorable!

Nice photos, Ginny! Around here it's always feeding time. I saw a male Cardinal fly from the bird feeder to the ground where his mate was waiting to feed her. I never figured out what that was all about, especially since she could fly up there. I saw her. God only knows the rituals of animals!

Have a nice weekend :-)

Good morning Ginny. Great pictures!! And this is one of my favorite Bible verses. It's one where we have to let the Lord work through us because let's face it... our flesh wants no part of being good to those who do us wrong. Great post!!

That is a hard verse to obey. Something I should work on.

God's love and provision is so evident in nature. You share it with us well.

Wow wow WOW on the header shot. these are so amazing to me. the birds just keep on poking food down the throat of the baby and then one day they KICK them out of the nest which is what we are to do with our children. it is the natural thing to do. i smiled when i read the scripture because last night i said in email to a friend who was worried, do what the Bible says and be nice to her and if she does not accept it you will be heaping coals on her head. i have actually done this in the past and it does work. one of my favorite scriptures.

The birds have been more open with feeding their fledglings this year... blackbirds, blue jays, finch... all have fed them near the feeders.

Well, that was quite a ruckus. :-) Ginny, just wait til you see the picture I'm posting tomorrow. I was in an airport food court today and a little blackbird had flown into the building. He was having a lot of success scrunging up goodies from the floor.

I love the pictures of the adult bird feeding the baby! Amazing patience the animals (especially birds) seem to have at meeting the demands of their young. I admit, my patience would run out as a young father. That our Heavenly Father has such incredible patience with us humans is also beyond my understanding - but He does, THANK GOD!

You got a great shot with the mouth open. It takes so much patience to shoot wild animals.
