Look, I Show You A Mystery

"Listen, I tell you a mystery: we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed."
1 Cor. 15:51

Here is one thing I wish would change-this house. Yesterday I promised to show you the mystery where the gladiolus grow, and here it is. Notice anything different about this house? Well, it has scaffolding in front of it. But the house is not having any work done to it, nor has it ever, to my knowledge. We have lived in this neighborhood for over twenty five years, and I can't remember a time the scaffolding wasn't there, it was put there to stay. Notice that they have written the house number on a piece of paper and attached it to the scaffolding. In the tiny yard, flowers grow freely and tall, and no grass is ever mowed. There are people living there, see in the window? There are lots of green houseplants inside, and the inhabitants come and go and work on their cars in the driveway. But they never tend the yard or move the scaffolding, it remains a mystery. And maybe some mysteries are best left just that way, unknown.

"My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."
Colossians 2:2

Ginny, That is truly unusual. Apparently, it does not bother them at all. Here in Florida, we have zoning ordinances in some areas regarding upkeep on property. The houseplants look very healthy inside don't they? This is indeed mysterious. Keep us posted if anything changes in the future.
Blessings,
Lynn

Hum, that is sad to let that place go like that, I love that style of house. I know in our county they would make the owner clean up the proberty. Have you tried calling the county? It will bring down already property values.

Wow, that wouldn't happen in our little town. We have codes against those things. I think this makes me happy that we have such strict codes....a volunteer beautification committee was started years ago and was eventually adopted into the govt. But glory there are a lot of amazing flowers hidden away in that mess.

That is a mystery Ginny, I wonder why that scaffolding has been there for so long. In the one photo it looks like there has been some damage to the area around the door.

I just can't imagine living in a house and not doing upkeep on the property. But then like you said maybe some mysteries are best left unsolved.

Now that is the beginning of you new mystery novel. What a mind bender. Who? What? Why? When? Wherefore? And How long??? ☻☻☻☻☻

So the mystery remains a mystery. Clearly, there was a time when the house and grounda were loved and cared for,

Oh how I love a mystery. I'm already making up stories about this house. The people who live there are probably poets. If not, they are artists who eschew the trappings of a conventional life. Of course, that's why the city should step in and make them remove that scaffolding as it could be dangerous and mow the lawn as it is unsightly. First I'd like to photograph it myself!!

Best,
Bonnie

Cute little house - she needs a family that would love her though.

Looks like a great house, too. I'd live there. Sans the scaffolding. Now I want to know more about who lives there!!

Definitely very odd... Maybe its a lucky charm or something of that sort!!
Hope you are having a great week:)

strange story here, almost worthy of the twilight zone. wwooo wooow wooo. have you thought of sending Phil to the door and asking WHY? Just a thought, LOL
the house is a nice house, and i am wondering how they come and go, with the door blocked. must be the ultimate lazy people to just leave it there for 20 years. in our city/county they would come around and demand it be taken down. if the grass gets higher than a foot, they leave notes, they leave notes for all kinds of things

I suppose they must be using the other door to get in and out then? (seems to be one on the side in the 2nd pic). The house doesn't look so bad for having stood there 25 years?? What a mystery, indeed. Even more of a mystery that you haven't found out in all these years! ;) You could try sending one of those TV home make over teams round... Someone who started putting up scaffolding 25 years ago and still never got anywhere might be enough to indicate they need help!

Maybe zombies live there? And everyone knows zombies don't know how to paint or mow lawns. Or perhaps they ran out of money 26 years ago? A mystery indeed.

The book is being written in the comments, lol!! Actually, the reason they don't remove the scaffolding, is because it holds up the house. The house wasn't built to code and 'Holmes on Homes' of HGTV hasn't been around to fix it. Maybe you should send him photos and a video and he could come and do the complete renovation or restoration that's needed. Or apply at Extreme Make-over for help. I was thinking what Sandra mentioned, send Phil to inquire! This is truly puzzling!

It's fabulous though that the flowers and grasses grow and bloom - doing just what they've been designed to do - despite their mysterious surroundings!

You have the most interesting posts Ginny! I'm surprised no one caught you taking photos! God bless and have a great week-end!

That's totally bizarre.
Makes one wonder what's going on.

Makes a pretty nifty fire escape. Mysteries are actually good things. I'm happy to leave some things alone and make up my own explanations. Not sure about this one, though. I'm having trouble coming up with that story. I think the yard is lovely. I like wild.

Okay, you've given us a mystery. Are you going to solve it for us? Someone must have been planning on some major renovations at one time. The middle windows only have one shutter. Our POA would never allow this to go on so long.

Hi Ginny, Remember these unusual neighbors in prayers. Likely just unable to do the yard care and unable to pay a gardner. Or, they are not the type to care much what the other residents on the street think of their house. Either way, praying for one's neighbors is a good thing all the way around. I often pray for neighbors and civic leaders who I have never met or only know very casually. Does not hurt. Have a splendid day tomorrow!

The verses are encouraging. Well that is strange and I know there are some odd places around here too. One down the road a piece, folks painted their whole house lavender with purple trim..last I looked they had about two feet of grass growing out of their entire water catchment! Most of us have those tanks for drinking (rain water flows from gutters off the roof). So I imagine they'd be using another for the house and left the other for fish and frogs?!

Well that is a mystery. How odd that it has been there for 20 years. In my neighborhood if your grass gets higher that I believe 6 inches you get a letter from the borough. I doubt that they would allow the scaffolding to stay up for that length of time either.

I fail to understand why people would want to live in such an unkept place.

What a sad place, Ginny... I'm shocked that people are actually living in there... Seems like the neighbors would complain. I'd hate to have that eyesore near my home...

We have community laws and rules to prevent places from looking like that.
Hugs,
Betsy

Okay that is weird. You need to go to the house and tell them you are writing a story about it and you need to know the scoop!

Reena said...

Ok, now, that is just plain weird! But the flowers are pretty!

It is amazing how you can take such a sad, old, rundown, house and turn it into an inspirational blessing.

That is a mystery ... looks like it could be a cute place.

I see the glad all over flowers before I read your commentary.

May be they ran out of money and couldn't renovate.

that is certainly very strange Ginny. But at least the flowers are pretty.
