Double Your Pleasure

"Most persons do not see the sun. The sun illuminates only the eye of man, but shines into the eye and heart of the child."
 Ralph Waldo Emerson

I took these pictures on the evening of July 21. Take a good look and tell me if you notice anything different.  See the reflection behind the sun? It makes a double sun! It looks rather like a bad camera shot, or that I shook and blurred the camera. Not so. I assure you that I saw this with my own two eyes before I even got my camera out! It looked just like this! I don't know how such a thing could be, some kind of atmospheric phenomenon, perhaps. I am thinking not many people have seen this, have you? I consider myself so blessed to have been in the right place at the right time!

"Now no one can look at the sun,
bright as it is in the skies
after the wind has swept them clean.
Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;
God comes in awesome majesty."
Job 37:21,22

Yes, indeed it is doubled... a faint reflection .. the shadow of the sun.. reminds me of this verse.. settle our anger/wrath before the setting of the sun..

Beautiful shots, Ginny!

Oh wow, Ginny you captured a really unusual scene. It looks like the sun lit up the clouds and then reflected on them. I'm sure there is some scientific explanation but I like your explanation, right time and right place and blessed.

Outstanding shot, Ginny. It looks like the sun is reflecting on the clouds behind it.

Wow! I like your explanation of the "double" sun rather than searching for a scientific one.

Congratulation on being a Bertolli winner. They have very good pastas and sauces.

Best,
Bonnie

Ever see the commercial where people are walking out of a business and they are closing their eyes asking what happened and the worker cleaning windows says - it's the sun!

I think we need to stop and look at the sun and see it's beauty. That must be some shadow affect or something.

Cool Ginny! Love it.

Simply gorgeous..you can't get better than that!! You didn't take it through your windshield did you (ha ha)..you know I'm teasing. My husband was trying to nudge me into taking more landscapes than macro's? This is fabulous and the verse is beautiful-

It is a wonderful series of photos, Ginny. I always look forward to your photos. As to Lara and her gang: In the early days of my blog I spoke more about the children and others in my life. Some of my early readers knew the kids lived in an area of Texas that was experiencing unexpected wildfires and they emailed their concern. I'm way behind in my correspondence right now and used the blog to give a quick answer before I responded to the emails. I hope you have a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary .
