The Wall Of Hope

Yesterday I showed you a sad wall, today I will show you a happy one. This colorful wall was built in one of our poorest sections of town. The disadvantaged children living there don't have as much hope as some others, but this wall is giving them that. The local elementary school and a local college got together and painted this wall. It is something the children can be proud of, something they made themselves. And knowing you made something good can do wonders for your confidence. This wall is every bit as healing as yesterday's was, but in a different way. For the people of yesterday's wall, there was no hope. For the people of this wall, there is. If you were painting such a wall, what image would you put on it? But the wall is only part of the story, I will show you the rest on my next post.

“God brings poverty and God brings wealth; he lowers, he also lifts up. He puts poor people on their feet again; he rekindles burned-out lives with fresh hope, Restoring dignity and respect to their lives— a place in the sun! For the very structures of earth are God's; he has laid out his operations on a firm foundation.”
1 Samuel

I just love murals like this! Delightful, joyful and like you said, hopeful and inspiring! Instills pride for sure!

I have often wished that graffiti artists would showcase their talents with something beautiful and delightful, rather than using their creative skills to deface!

I too love this mural. I think it is bright and cheerful and would help the morale of the people who lived in the area.

A good way to use the wall.

What a fabulous idea! The children who took part in this project can see their work every day and be proud of themselves. In fact the whole neighborhood should be proud. I'm looking forward to the rest of this wonderful story.

Thank you, hope we all need at times. This wall mural is beautiful. The colours are rich and I can why the children would be so proud. I'm seeing more of these this year than any in the past. It sure is nicer than graffiti
Take care,
cindy

great for the kids to work together with adults to create this and it makes the neighborhood bright and happy, a fantastic idea. hope others do the same thing. just looking at each photo makes me happy and brings a smile to my face. if i were doing a wall, it would be trees and dogs and parks.

The traveling wall is deeply moving. We saw it when it first started going around many years ago. Now we drive to Sacramento from time to time and visit the memorial there.

This wall is filled with so much hope and possibility. The children are so happy. Thre is so much handholding. One can't help but smile.

The sand dunes, 6 storeys high, 2 steps up, 1 step slipping down. Very hard work, but the husband likes it.

I would paint my family because they are my greatest hops.

i don't think I could paint anything more hopeful than the efforts of these children. Bright colors, imaginative flora and fauna, engaging people, and the endearing lettering revealing pride in their school. Great post.
