A Small Mother's Day Misadventure

On Mother's Day we were driving along, and this beautiful antique car pulled out in front of us. Around here, when you see one of these out on the road on a weekend, it can mean only one thing, CAR SHOW! So I said to Phil "Follow that Car!!"
Things were going well till we made a turn into a huge grassy area where we were in a line. In the next picture you can see a man standing in the bottom right corner. He was handing out flowers to everyone who came in. Strange thing to do for a car show. Then I saw it...this was not a car show, it was a cemetery. And we were in a line for Mother's Day visits. Wildly trying to think of my friends names who were buried here, in case of being questioned, we accepted the flower and continued to follow the car. By now there was nothing else we could do.

Finally the car pulled over by a grave and we drove around it, the driver giving us both a quizzical stare as we passed.

So back to the highway we sped, with me holding my ill gotten gains in my hand, a very pretty red carnation. I think it will be awhile before we follow anyone again.

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
John 8

Oh my, what an adventure. I would have jumped to the same conclusion on seeing an antique car and might have followed too.

The carnation is beautiful!

Well at least you got an interesting adventure. Is that tradition where you live, someone handing out flowers at the entrance of the cemetary on Mother's Day??

Good Morning Ginny, I enjoyed your story, and I'm sure that if the driver of that car knew why you were following him, he would have understood completely. People with beautiful cars that that one love attending car shows, too. My, didn't it look lovely going down the road in style to visit Mom.
You are such a dear sweet blogging friend.
I'm happy that you like our little red-neck hot tub area :)
Have a great week, Connie :)

That was a great story and a gorgeous flower. I was just reading my devotion today and it talked about being careful - make sure you are first following HIM - a God Wink. sandie

Oops, a little mistake :-) Haha, but the antique car on weekend can be very misleading! I wonder the driver just drive that car all the time. Or maybe it was soecial to visit cemetery.
The carnation is beautiful. What a bright red color!

That is funny in a way. We can get ourselves in an awkward position just doing what comes naturally. Made for a great post.

There is something very special about an old car that has been restored. We sure are having fun restoring our old boat. There is a pleasure in seeing it become pretty and useful again.
I hope that your Mother's Day was a nice one.

last weekend we were in a different state looking for a specific gym and we were lost. at a red light my husband noticed the car across from us had what looked like a ticket to the tournament, so he followed the car! I thought that was the craziest idea I ever heard, but it got us right where we wanted to be!!!
