A Whale Of A Tale

Do you see what I have found?
Whales are swimming underground!
They swim right under solid land
So they can say hello to man.

Welcome to the whale tails of Charlottesville!  Thomas Givens, the artist, used wooden boat building techniques to build these. He was hoping they would inspire wonder and reverence for these endangered creatures. Since most people will never get to see the real thing, this is the next best. He created a trio, up on a hill on a busy highway median. Phil and Ella walked up to visit them, and she LOVED them!!

“What a wildly wonderful world, God! You made it all, with Wisdom at your side, made earth overflow with your wonderful creations. Oh, look—the deep, wide sea, brimming with fish past counting, sardines and sharks and salmon. Ships plow those waters, and Leviathan, your pet dragon, romps in them. All the creatures look expectantly to you to give them their meals on time.”
Psalm 104

Those are amazing! They are sure to inspire a lot of folks to think about the plight of the real animals. Whales are awe inspiring creatures when seen in the wild.

While I haven't seen the whales' tails, I have come across Noah's Ark in that area. Texas has nothing on Virginia in the wild "tale" (pun intended) department.

Best,
Bonnie
