Bad Moon Rising, or How I Escaped With My Life Under The May Full Moon

Don't go around tonight, well, it's bound to take your life. There's a bad moon on the rise.
John Fogerty

The evening started out quite lovely, balmy and warm. It was last weekend as we drove up a hill so I could snap the Full Flower Moon.  We parked in a dark back corner of a gas station. Presently, a semi cab parked to the side and rear of us. No one got out and the engine kept running. We thought that was odd, but maybe the truck driver was going to catch a nap. UNTIL about five minutes later when a beat up truck stopped nearby and two shady figures wearing hoodies approached the truck. It was about now that I began to panic. No words were spoken between the hooded men and the driver, just packages exchanged. Have I told you that that this highway is one of the three worst drug dealing corridors in the country?

"Step on the gas!" I told Phil. He asked why. "Because they are going to shoot us!" Phil asked why they would do that. "Because we are witnesses!" Phil calmly explained that I watched too many crime shows and we were better staying where we were and pretending to be clueless. See how steady my hands were? I was an easy target. As we drove home down the highway, the moon and the approaching car looked like two moons. I was glad we were alive to see it.

“I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous, your handmade sky-jewelry, Moon and stars mounted in their settings. Then I look at my micro-self and wonder, Why do you bother with us? Why take a second look our way?”

YIPES.. Glad those shady characters didn't spot you and think you were spying on them....

BUT--you captured some great photos of the full moon. I always love your full moon pictures. Thanks!!!!

AND--be careful where you park next time.

I remember this song.. Bad Moon Rising in the early 70s.. Very nice pictures as usual, Ginny!

Oh Ginny, what an experience. It's a good thing those men didn't see you sitting in the car or you could have been in danger. I'm glad you got away okay and got those gorgeous photos of the moon.

Hi Ginny,

It is fascinating to hear all these stories about the full moon. It shows that many people think about this.

Greetings,
Filip

i can't believe my chicken little sister even thought about parking in a dark gas station. i would never ever never do that. and if for some reason i did i would have blasted out of there to... you were in danger, whether Phil thinks so or not. so happy you are safe and not having to go into Witness Protection Program and would disappear off blog land and we would never know what happened.

I love the "two moons" shot. And I agree with Phil on pretending to be clueless! I'm glad you made it home safe.

Oh boy, I'd probably be peeing my pants witnessing something like that...and in the dark!?!!

You and Phil are better than "Thelma and Louise". I'm thinking about writing a book! In case it gets made into a movie, who would you like to be cast in your roles?

Best,
Bonnie

Love the moon pics, so pretty. And I've got to say now I'm going to have that song running through my head all day! Haha. I remember it well.

Your moon shots are beautiful, but maybe you need to find a better place to take your pictures. I watch Law & Order, and there are people out there that would hurt you in a minute, but isn't it wonderful that we have the Lord and His angels watching over us :)
God bless you,
Connie :)

Hi Ginny, Hey, I grew up in Los Angeles and also worked in several gritty neighborhoods in Sacramento. One can't take safety lightly. Love your pictures of the Moon. Excellent as usual! Have a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow!

I'm glad you didn't end up as an installment on a crime show. Thanks for reminding me how dull life (and getting photos of the moon) can be here in the Glade. I think I like it that way.

Oh my....you were lucky that they were good bad guys...if there is such people. Glad your safe and that you got those wonderful moon pictures. You are a dedicated photographer with a great husband.

I'm so glad you two are safe! I have to tell you that this did get my hubby and I laughing because he and I seem so much like you and Phil. I tend to get all freaked out and Craig is my Rock and very calm. :)
These are pretty photos! You always get the full moon shots. I always keep my teenager close to home around the full moon. :)
