A Weekend Surprise

A couple days ago, we were driving down the street. And from a half block away I saw these gorgeous colors! I told Phil I wanted him to stop the car when we got to where the colors were, and this is what we found when we got there! I had never seen any flowers like these, and it turns out they are Hibiscus. They are smaller than the ones I usually see around here that have only one color, and with the sun shining on them, I was almost stupefied with delight!

“Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work. It’s God’s gift! God deals out joy in the present, the now.
Ecclesiastes 5

They do look like the colors of fire. My mother in law has hibiscus, but they are not this brilliantly colored.

fyi....hibiscus is the state flower of Hawaii. But none the less, I love 'em And they come in so many many colors, and multi-colors. I have two hybrids in my yard that have a deep rich rose color blossom, but the part I like is the plant itself has variegated green, white and wine colored leaves!!!!

Gorgeous photos Ginny

I have never seen any like those either. Stupified is the perfect word to capture this flower-lover's delight.

The Scripture verse reminds me to express thankfulness for the beauty God makes possible and for his fashioning us as creatures who can enjoy it.

Hi Ginny, What beautiful flowers! I am surprised that the Hibiscus can grow in your area. I had some in Southern CA but not any in TN. There are a few around here in FL (but the climate is a bit similar to that of Southern CA plus more rain). Have a great day!
