A Roadside Surprise

The only human institution which rejects progress is the cemetery.  Harold Wilson

Yesterday, we passed by the most stunning road!! All these old gorgeous trees. And taking a peek behind them, I saw that it was an old cemetery.. It was on a major highway, so I went back and forth several times to get these pictures.

“One man died for everyone. That puts everyone in the same boat. He included everyone in his death so that everyone could also be included in his life, a resurrection life, a far better life than people ever lived on their own.”
2 Corinthians 5

Here most of the trees have dropped their leaves now. But cemeteries are often magnificent here in autumn because they have all these huge old trees. There's one close to where I live and I often walk either alongside or across when going into town.

Beautiful pictures! It would be interesting to walk in that cemetery. I always like to walk around looking for the oldest grave.
Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures of the magnificent fall colors in your part of the country.

The colour is amazing. Enough leaves have fallen to even make the ground colourful.

Lovely! The leaves on the ground are as pretty as the ones on the trees. I like seeing the old tombstones.

Bonnie

Beautiful!!!!

And being this time of year, the cemetery is a great scene...so peaceful...so quiet...so pretty with the old, ancient trees. A great area to lay to rest.

Stunning photos. A cemetery always reminds us of what's important in life and what's not, doesn't it?

What beautiful colors you captured Ginny. Even with all the leaves that have fallen the trees are still brilliant. I love the old cemetery in the background. Like someone else mentioned above, I enjoy looking at the oldest of the grave markers.

Ginny: I answered your question re the "outhouse" on my post since others might have the same question. The outhouse (which has that on all four sides) is a take off on Seurat's "Sunday on La Grande Jatte". Loved it!

Best,
Bonnie

I see a cemetery like this and always think I would not mind being laid to rest there. It is beautiful.

Wow, those trees are beautiful!! Our leaves are starting to change, but they're still mostly green.

How many times did you have to drive by to get these shots????? Isn't that just as bad as texting and driving if you are shooting and driving?
