Full Of Wonders

“Man is a very small thing, and the night is very large and full of wonders.”  ~Edward Plunkett

Last month I was in the car waiting for Phil, and I looked up and saw the newly risen moon. It was just below a streetlight and I noticed how much softer and more beautiful it was than the glaring parking lot light. The man made light glares, the moon shines. And then IT happened, do you see it in this last picture? A reflection of the moon behind the real moon!! Or WAS it a reflection...what WAS it?  Believe me, this is the picture I took without any editing, straight out of the camera! I have blogged the same effect with the sun as well. So what do YOU think was happening?

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully…”
1 Corinthians 13

The moon shines and the lights glare: So true, Ginny! And so evident from all your wonderful captures! As for the reflection, cannot make out for sure but it does look so much like a reflection of the moon!! It's phenomenal!

Lovely! I did that once with a moon shot- I don't know how I did it though!

It may be the moonlight reflecting on your lens that the camera captures? Don't ask me!!!
None the less, these images are phenomenal.

"The man made light glares, the moon shines" I LOVE THAT. What a wonderful way of wording it. Fantastic pictures.

I love the effect on the third one. I don't know what causes it, but sometimes the camera picks up things our eyes do not.

these shots made me think of Remington, he would certainly love all of these.. could you see the second moon with your eye? or only in the camera LED or computer... i am thinking the camera lens does it.

I absolutely love that line about the man made lights glaring and the moon shining. Did you make that one up or had you heard it before...

and they are lovely shots. I would like to know how/shy of that last shot. I am wondering if Hootin' Anni might be right.

Well that is so interesting! Perhaps a reflection off the car window?

Thanks for your sweet comment today :-)

I don't know how that happened but it's a great shot! Moon glow beats man-made glare any time!

The photos are beautiful and the last one is so mysterious! Is it reflection on cloud or thick air? I have no idea!

I think it's caused by the lens... Kinda like a sunspot--so I'll call it a moonspot. ha ha

I love your thoughts about the man made light GLARING and the moon light SHINING.... Great way to think about it. I agree.

Hugs,
Betsy

Very interesting shots! And the moon is only a reflection of the sun - as we should be of the Son!

I am sure there is a technical explanation....but I bet there are some neat conspiracy theory's to explain it.

I always love your shots of the moon Ginny. Your header is gorgeous.

That is a strange site, two moons. My guess would be ice crystals in the atmosphere, they can be very reflective.

Car window?? I don't know, but these are beautiful! You are queen of moons!
