Going To the Dogs

Last night,  several Animal Shelters got together and made a big fun night by bringing their adoptable dogs into the shopping center parking lot. They had lots of literature about adopting and many people who answered questions. See the sweet Sheltie in the first two pictures? She was not up for adoption! She was there with her owner to help give out applications and flyers. She is 13 years old! The dogs were overjoyed to be outside! They walked around laughing with their tails constantly wagging. They befriended anyone who came up to them, and they got lots of attention. As we left, we passed a shelter lay and I asked her how many got adopted. Her answer was NONE. It was wet and damp and getting dark as they put the dogs in the trucks to go back to the shelters, my heart almost broke.

“Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage. You can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of his Son into our lives crying out, “Papa! Father!” Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And if you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.

All lovely dogs but a pity not adopted. By the way, the red Moon on Copeland Post yesterday, is the only red moon I have ever seen.

Oh how sad that not one dog was adopted. They are all very sweet looking. I can just imagine how happy they were to have a day out like that

Yes, it is heartbreaking. We saved two many years ago and they have brought many, many smiles and comfort. ...:)JP

This makes me sad too! I'm glad they had a bit of freedom and extra love and attention.

They are so adorable and all of them deserve their forever homes. It's sad none of them got adopted that night, but glad they had time outside getting attention. And maybe some people go back to shelter and decide to adopt them...I do hope so!

they are all gorgeous..the sad thing is no one wants these dogs because they are older, puppies go but these don't. we have literally thousands of dogs put down each year here, 3500 of them last year... all beautiful like these.
these dogs are there because of people who do not take responsibility for their pets.. a dog is a commitment, they get puppies then it gets expensive and they need sitters and they turn them in. also because people don't get their dogs neutered and puppies are born and the cycle continues. this post breaks my heart.. these are all wonderful dogs.. of our 4 dogs in the past 30 all were adult dogs. only one puppy that we rescued from the next door neighbors... great shots of these guys

My heart breaks for these sweet dogs! I know you are like me and have a soft heart for dogs and cats, too. Well, all animals in fact. It hurts to know they mostly live in kennels and are awaiting a forever home. I hope they all find one very soon!

They are all adorable! I love that little Sheltie!

It is sad that none of them got adopted that night but I wonder how many will be adopted later. Sometimes people will wait and visit them at the shelter before adopting. I hope that is the case here.

So sad none were adopted. My last dog was a rescue and he was my best buddy until we had to put him down last year. Perhaps they will all find a good home.

Oh, how sad none were adopted. Maybe some people will go home and think about it and then adopt some.
