Centered

Are you ready for the answer to the mystery flower?  They are WILD SUNFLOWERS! No one guessed it! But don't feel bad. Until last month, I had never heard of them and I would never have guessed either! These pictures really show the seeds in their centers, see the tiny sunflower seeds pushing up? The flowers are about the size of daisies, much smaller then a regular sunflower. We visited a Wildflower Garden, and the owner kindly gave us this bouquet of them as we were leaving. I think my jaw must have dropped when she told me what they were! Now that I can recognize them, I see them all over.

“May he keep us centered and devoted to him, following the life path he has cleared, watching the signposts, walking at the pace and rhythms he laid down for our ancestors.”

Awww, Ginny, these are so pretty and I would have never guessed either. I wonder if we have such out here? We have lots of wild Black Eyed Susans but I've never noticed these around here.

They look a lot like coriopsis (bad spelling) which we have in our garden. It spreads and fills in spaces around shrubs, etc.. It isn't the size of a daisy but smaller. I love the happy color.

well now I feel really silly because after reading your answer I know where I've seen these before. They look just like the ones that will occasionally pop up underneath the bird feeder.

I have not heard of wild sunflowers and these are gorgeous. i said yesterday i had photos and i remembered what mine are, but they are Mexican sunflowers on a bush... so they must be first cousins i think...i would so love to have a hand full of these on my kitchen table

I agree with from the kitchen. They look like my coreopsis but coreopsis is much smaller me thinks. My fav color is yellow and these make me happy. LJ

Never would have guessed this one... These don't look AT ALL like Sunflowers to me... BUT--one never knows, do we?

Thanks for sharing. I just keep learning from bloggers.

Beautiful photos Ginny. I would not have guessed Wild Sunflowers since they look a little different than the ones that grow in our area but then there are a lot of varieties. I love your guessing games.

A wildflower garden --what a treat! I don't know if we have those in our area. But I will be on the lookout. Goldenrod and black-eyed susan are what I mostly see this time of year..

Nervous At Hobby Lobby
