Painting On Horses

Yes, that's right. Not painting pictures OF horses, but actually painting ON horses! Today as we rounded a bend, out of the corner of my eye I saw something strange on the Chick-Fil-A grounds. Here is my first glimpse.

We drove over and talked to the people. Seems it was children's day at Chick-Fil-A and to celebrate it, they had brought in two horses and paints with brushes. The kids were to paint on the horses, write on the horses, anything they wanted. I was totally flabbergasted! I watched little children writing all over the horses. The horses were very gentle and I am assuming the paints were food grade and would wash off later. Anymore, I just never know what I am going to see around here!

And as to why they had red reindeer antlers on the white horse? In the middle of the summer. Well, your guess is as good as mine.

“Solomon had forty thousand stalls for chariot horses and twelve thousand horsemen.”

The Rainbows

We had rain almost every day last week. Some were the kind of rain that the sun comes out right after. And you know what THAT means!

“God continued, I’m putting my rainbow in the clouds, a sign of the covenant between me and the Earth. From now on, when I form a cloud over the Earth and the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll remember my covenant between me and you and everything living, that never again will floodwaters destroy all life. When the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll see it and remember the eternal covenant between God and everything living, every last living creature on Earth.”

Welcome To The Thunderegg!

You are reading that right, not the Thunder Dome, but my Thunderegg! And here it is! I am a rock collector and have only just acquired it. You see how lumpy and ordinary the outside looks?
But when you open it up. it is just beautiful. Filled with brilliant color!

Thundereggs are kind of similar to geodes, but are solid inside and are not formed the same way. No one knows knows for sure how they are formed, except that they are a product of volcanic lava flow, and are found in volcanic beds. Different ones have different materials inside like opal, quartz, and jasper. They are the state rock of Oregon, where you can still find most of them. According to Native American legend, when the thunder gods got mad at each other, they stood on mountaintops and threw weapons at each other. The weapons were Thunderbird eggs they had stolen from the nests. Hence the name Thunder Egg. Maybe some time I will tell you about the Thunderbird. But you never know what surprises lay inside something so ordinary on the outside.

“God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.”

Nuts!

Last Friday, both Anne and Ella were in a play. This is very rare because they are in different schools. The play was called "Nuts" and was abut the circle of life. I was in the center front row with my camera!! So here is sweet Ella.

And then what a surprise I got! About half of them were dressed as animals and birds, and Anne was an owl!! I could not see her face through the whole play! Thank goodness, at least I could see Ella's expressions. so here are some of the "animals".

And here is our little owl.
The kids had worked very hard, with guidance from stage directors.

Afterward there was a reception, and each child posted their artwork.
The children were wonderful! But about this idea of making them wear masks, I say NUTS!

Then he said, “How can I picture God’s kingdom for you? What kind of story can I use? It’s like a pine nut that a man plants in his front yard. It grows into a huge pine tree with thick branches, and eagles build nests in it.”

Not Clowning Around!

Can you guess where we were last night? We went to a clown performance in the park. Hey, what else is there to do in a small town on a Monday evening?

This clown had kids spinning plates in the air, and made them laugh with jokes.

What he was NOT very good at was balance and eye/hand coordination. He dropped things in his juggling act several times. Now I'm not naming any names (Just Joey), but this clown ran into me with his unicycle! On a Monday night. In a small town. Hit by an out of control unicycle. I of course did not get a picture of said unicycle because I was trying to compose myself. All I snapped was the tiny tricycle. And this guy is a graduate of the Barnum & Bailey clown college! I want to see his diploma!
As we walked away, I was glad I was not truly hurt, and thought what a dandy blog post it would make! After all, how many people can say they have been run over by a clown in a unicycle?

“Saul confessed, “I’ve sinned! Oh, come back, my dear son David! I won’t hurt you anymore. You’ve honored me this day, treating my life as most precious. And I've acted the fool—a moral dunce, a real clown.”

The Web

I am feeling much better now. The vertigo only lasted a day, and I rested the next day. Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments! This is a spider web that was on our back porch last week. Fortunately, the sun was shining on it, and I loved the way it looked. WITHOUT the spider! Later, after it was dark, we drove into the driveway and there it was, huge and weaving! This kind comes out at night, I don't know where they go in the day. Since I would have had to walk right under it to go inside, I sat in the car while Phil killed it for me. To my spider loving followers, I have arachnophobia and would never have come inside if it stayed there, just inches from the back door! And it was enormous! But it created a beautiful work of art.

To give it a different look, I made this picture from it!
“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.”

Chief Seattle, 1855

“The spider webs are no good for shirts or shawls. No one can wear these weavings!”

Vertigo

Hi to everyone on this beautiful weekend! I woke up with a bad case of vertigo, everything was spinning and I could not even sit up without falling over sideways on the bed. I am also nauseous. I have been dealing with anther case of diverticulitis for the last week, taking strong antibiotics which I will likely finish in the hospital. Anyway, maybe this vertigo is a side effect of the medicine? I am writing this one thing, then no computer till I am back to normal. Maybe it will just be a fast thing, and maybe not. See you soon I hope!

Through The Wires Thursday

It was last weekend when the sun came down low to the ground and was huge. The world became orange and yellow, and everything glowed. And we drove straight into it. Heaven will be even better than this, hard to imagine.

“The wall was jasper, the color of Glory, and the City was pure gold, translucent as glass. The foundations of the City walls were garnished with every precious gem imaginable: the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate a single pearl.
The main street of the City was pure gold, translucent as glass. But there was no sign of a Temple, for the Lord God—the Sovereign-Strong—and the Lamb are the Temple. The City doesn’t need sun or moon for light. God’s Glory is its light, the Lamb its lamp! The nations will walk in its light and earth’s kings bring in their splendor. Its gates will never be shut by day, and there won’t be any night.”

Dripping

Something I really look forward to, walking through the garden center right after a rain.

“For God’s Word is solid to the core; everything he makes is sound inside and out...Earth is drenched in God’s affectionate satisfaction.”

Nervous At Hobby Lobby

Next to our parked car at Hobby Lobby, we spotted these two cuties. They were clearly nervous and shaky. But then, when is a Chihuahua not ...
