Snow Cones

Today I want to talk about ice. Not this kind.

And not this kind.

The other day I opened the local paper and saw this.

A local lady named Tammy has opened a snow cone restaurant in the middle of winter! If it wasn't 8 degrees right now, I would laugh. But I don't want to suck in that much cold air. She has 24 flavors of snow cones. To lure people in until spring, she also sells hot chocolate in 7 flavors. These include salted caramel and warm oatmeal cake.  Those are the hot chocolate flavors, not the foods. Would you buy a snow cone now? Would you go somewhere for hot chocolate? Well, that is not too far fetched, considering Starbucks. Snow cones are hard to find, so I hope she does well, but I have my doubts. If she is still open in the spring, I will buy one...or maybe two.

“And who do you think is the father of rain and dew, the mother of ice and frost? You don’t for a minute imagine these marvels of weather just happen, do you?”
Job 38

“It’s God’s breath that forms the ice, it’s God’s breath that turns lakes and rivers solid.”

Job 37

This does seem like a bad time to open a place like that even with the hot chocolate.
I haven't had a snow cone in ages though and if it was summer I would buy one.

It will be a great challenge to open this place at a time when it is so cold...wish her the best till spring time.

I wish her the best of luck. I have never tried a snow cone so if I was walking by I would pop in. Definitely for the chocolate and a piece of cake :)

I sure hope Tammy's store survive the winter! I eat ice cream all year long, not matter if it's hot or cold. But when it's cold, I like to have ice cream with warm drink. So for me, this store is pefect :-)

Sounds like she has a good idea, but I am not a snow cone fan. Hot chocolate yes.

Definitely no snow cone for me until it is MUCH warmer outside.

Oh my! We have lots of snow cone stands here but they all close for the winter. But I would definitely stop in for a hot chocolate!

great pics! I sure do wish her luck! I love to see small businesses succeed. :) Back in Orlando the kids always went for ice cream and slurpees. :)

I know that our weather is a whole lot different from yours, but let me tell you.....a friend of mine has a snowcone stand, just down the road from our house.....and I have seen folks buying those things in the COLD and in the HEAT. People love snowcones! She has had her stand for about 15 + years now.

you know what we say over here? Best time having a snow cone is during cold weather . :)

Happy Weekend to you Ginny!

You found a very unusual subject and I love how you used your photos in this blog.

When I lived in Anchorage the busiest places in the winter time were the ice cream parlors so who knows. If she is creative enough she might do well.
