The Persian Ceiling

This is Dale Chihuly's Persian Ceiling, from an exhibit at the Richmond Art Museum. The ceiling is just a small part of the beauty this man creates! The glass pieces are resting on a flat glass pane that is lit from above. There are over a thousand pieces of glass! So come, let's start the tour. Look up!

Back down on the floor, here is the tour, looking up. I love the colorful reflections on the walls.

“The Inner Sanctuary within The TempleEverywhere you looked there was pure gold: gold chains strung in front of the gold-plated Inner Sanctuary—gold everywhere—walls, ceiling, floor, and Altar.” Dazzling!

This is just beautiful!!! The colors are spectacular. I have a penchant for colorful glass. I still have some wonderful pieces from when I did stain glass. I don't do it anymore because of carpal tunnel but I still visit the stain glass store from time to time to say hi to the owner and see the amazing things she creates. Hugs, LJ

This is so beautiful. It looks like the same ceiling art that I saw in Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. Colorful lights coming through the glass pieces are stunning!

I am such a big fan of Dale Chihuly's work. This one of the Persian Ceiling is something like what I saw in one of the casino's in Las Vegas. This ceiling was over where they had the check-in desk and I could not take my eyes off it. My neck was kind of sore but I just stood there for a long time looking up with people milling around me lol. I didn't know what I was looking at or even that it was done by Mr. Chihuly, until I saw a sculpture two years later I saw another work. Now I recognize themimmediately. These are beautiful photos Ginny. Love them!

Ginny, I would have used a selfie stick if I had one but we were just hiking around and enjoying the scenery.
Sometimes these new fangled "phones" are confusing!!! (:0)

Hi Ginny, I left a comment yesterday but wanted to stop back by because I saw your comment on Lady Jane's blog about Cabbage Patch dolls. Since you have granddaughters, I thought you would enjoy this story. As you know, we just moved to the north GA mountains to the town where I attended college. During the late 1970's, one of classmates at college, was Xavier Roberts, creator of Cabbage Patch dolls!!! He would sit in the dorm with his girlfriend and they would sew dolls! A few years later, all of us were stunned to see how popular the dolls were! Last weekend, a college friend of mine visited and we drove about 10 min. to the Cabbage Patch doll "hospital" which is huge. Xavier bought a huge tract of land here in the mountains and admission is free and they have hundreds of visitors each day to see babies born in the cabbage patch! lol They have some of the first "hand sewn" dolls on display and their worth is about $15,000!!! I blogged about it 2 days ago - that is what prompted Lady Jane to tell her story. Hope you will visit. xoxo
