Accidents Will Happen

We were driving home from he grocery store when we happened upon this. Seems a guy was speeding down the street, hit a parked car, became airborne, and lit partially on the roof of a house. The car he hit was pushed into the yard and crushed under him. No one was in the house or the crushed car. Believe it or not, the driver WALKED away! He is being charged with driving on drugs.

“On the roof, it's peaceful as can be
And there the world below can't bother me.”

CAROLE KING, GERRY GOFFIN

“Accidents will happen
We only hit and run
I don't want to hear it
'Cause I know what I've done.”

Elvis Costello

“No one can predict misfortune. Like fish caught in a cruel net or birds in a trap, so men and women are caught By accidents evil and sudden.”

Blooming

This is the last week in February. I went for a drive around town today, to show you how much is blooming. We did not have much of a winter at all, and it has been like spring for weeks! I don't remember this ever happening. What about where you live?

“Take back your Spirit and they die, revert to original mud; Send out your Spirit and they spring to life— the whole countryside in bloom and blossom.”

Psalm 104

The Call Box

We passed this red rocket phone booth sitting on the highway. Of course I went up and peeked inside, where I found books! Maybe it is some kind of local book exchange? England is famous for it's red phone booths (or call boxes, as they call them). They are now starting to pop up all over silicone valley as the latest "in" thing.

“There are so many other things Jesus did. If they were all written down, each of them, one by one, I can’t imagine a world big enough to hold such a library of books.”

The Train

We happened to pass this wonderful train painted on a cinder block wall. I find nothing more mournful than the long, low whistle of a train at evening time.

The year leads round the seasons, in a choir
For ever charming, and for ever new,
Blending the grand, the beautiful, the gay,
The mournful, and the tender, in one strain...

Mystery Flag

Living in the South, there are plenty of confederate flags around. Especially waving from pickup trucks. But this one puzzles me. We passed it one night, and I took these pictures. My research has not been able to find it anywhere. The closest I came was seeing a Confederate flag with the same 13 stars, but they were in a complete circle. Any ideas? My header is our good old Stars & Stripes in the sunset, which I snapped a few years ago.

“So Moses made a snake of fiery copper and put it on top of a flagpole. Anyone bitten by a snake who then looked at the copper snake lived.”

A Lopsided Moon

Late last year, a lopsided moon rose red, but soon turned a lighter color. I was very glad I had my camera with me.

The Dimming Of The Day

Come and join me as I watch Saturday evening's sunset. It was a sight to behold.

“Oh, how sweet the light of day, And how wonderful to live in the sunshine! Even if you live a long time, don’t take a single day for granted. Take delight in each light-filled hour…”

Ecclesiastes 11

Our Valentines

Our little Valentines came over the other day. Anne Marie did a jigsaw puzzle while the little ones and I made Valentines! I had markers, hearts, stickers, and doilies!

Followers, you are my Valentines, too. I hope you have a great day!

“Then God promises to love me all day, sing songs all through the night! My life is God’s prayer.

Update On Simba

If you're wondering why I haven't posted in awhile, it is because of Simba. The vet had to pull six teeth. When we got him home, his jaws were swollen and he would not look at us, sitting in front of us with his back turned to us.

By the second day he was home, his face and neck swelled up badly, and he would not groom himself. He stayed on the ottoman and would not walk around. Here he is before the swelling got too bad.

The vet said to bring him in immediately.

Coincidentally, their big bulletin board was all about Dental Month.

Turned out Simba was really sick! They had to admit him and keep him there. The vet removed his stitches to get at the infection, and gave him i.v's. He is home now, and back to his old self, but he really had me worried!

Some tortures are physical
And some are mental,
But the one that is both
Is dental.

The Summer Wall

Here is a mural that goes all the way across one wall of a building. Even the bricks are painted on. The pictures would be perfect except for the WIRES! But anyway, it really reminds me of summer.

“Take a lesson from the fig tree. From the moment you notice its buds form, the merest hint of green, you know summer’s just around the corner.”

Matthew 24

Nervous At Hobby Lobby

Next to our parked car at Hobby Lobby, we spotted these two cuties. They were clearly nervous and shaky. But then, when is a Chihuahua not ...
