Sunday Sightings

This evening when we were out, we had a couple awesome sightings! We saw this Great blue Heron fishing in a tiny pond. He was sneaking around very slowly, trying to catch a fish.

Then as we drove down the street, something ran across the street in front of the car!

It was a little fox! I am still kind of unsure of this, because his tail was not big and fluffy. But maybe he was real young. When he turned to look back, my camera was ready.

After one look back, he was off into the corn.

“Animals have these advantages over man: they never hear the clock strike, they die without any idea of death, they have no theologians to instruct them, their last moments are not disturbed by unwelcome and unpleasant ceremonies, their funerals cost them nothing, and no one starts lawsuits over their wills.”

he or she is a beautiful fox. almost like a coyote but has the foxy face look.. you have been seeing a lot of Florida type birds, first the sandhill cranes and now the heron....

It was nice of the fox to pose so nicely for you.

I think that was a fox. Maybe he lost his tail? That quote animals are lucky except they don't have the theologian help that we do!

I like the quote you shared Ginny. :-)

I'm thinking that guy looks more like a young coyote, but I am no expert on these things. Great capture, either way.

What wonderful sightings. That sure looks like a fox to me. Nice of him to turn around and let you get a shot of him.

Two of my favourite types of wild life to see. I’ve always loved red foxes. When I was a girl I came across a little mama fox and her babies in a den. I didn’t get close enough to engage them and I’ve always remembered how amazing it was to see them.

You had a red letter day...I would be thrilled to get those two in the same day.

What a great day for wildlife you had! We see the Great Blue herons quite often in our coastal environment. In our new home's wooded environment we have seen a fox (we think) once in the three years we moved in. It had a bushy tale and was about the right size and color. But never since then.

The Big Cat

Not to be outdone by that upstart The Big Cow and his friends, the Big Cat bought a new Easter bonnet! It is purrrfectly lovely! And while ...
