It Doesn't Make Cents

Here is a pet peeve of mine. The computer keyboard has a key for dollar ($), but not one for cents!! WHY? It does not make sense, or cents. This is the symbol I mean.

I have needed to use it quite a bit. I guess it is not near as important as the dollar sign. But we all have lots of coins hanging around.

And there are lots of coin collectors, too. Just no key for it. What is your pet computer peeve?

I never thought about this, Ginny, but you're right... there is no "cents" sign on a keyboard. I wonder why? Love, Andrea xoxo

Yes, I remember the cents symbol.. but I think nowadays the new generation does not know about this cent symbol.. :)

I think there is an alt key for the symbol, but I can't remember the combination of keys. Do a Google search for alt keys.
I have so many peeves I couldn't list all of them.

Since I don't use ¢ very often I hadn't noticed that it isn't on the keyboard. I went to the link Anni gave to see how to typ a ¢

Alt and press 0162.

Ginny, I forgot to say, I don't know how this works if you don't have the regular number key pad at the side. And if you do have it and it doesn't work, then hit the Num Loc button. Mine does not work just hitting the numbers across the top, but I am sure if that is all you have there is probably a work around.

I have never thought of the cents sign. Pretty little purse. Have a wonderful week. Stay safe.

It is usually possible to get the ¢ sign on a computer keyboard, although you might have to search to find how to get it.

I have noticed this and it makes no cents... I think no one uses cents anymore, now we need a debit card key. ha ha.. I am lazy and hate using the shift key so rather type cents than use the shift key, if you notice I almost always type dollars after the amount, again because I hate the shift key... whati hate most is the stupid laptop making copy and past for no reason other than my hand is not high enough over the pad.... I hate the whole keyboard on laptop and love the desk top keyboard. it doesn't type by itself

Haha I've never thought about it but that's a good point! I wish keyboard had division sign as there are +, -, and = !
I love your clever title "it doesn't make cents" :-)

Yeah...why do we have to type it out?? Hmm.

Alt and press 0162 is cent
Alt and press 0176 is degree

I agree with you!

I had never given this a thought. My pet peeve is when spellcheck thinks it knows what I want to say and gets it all wrong.

Love your little coin purse. My mother had a number of little coin purses in her pocketbook. Each one had a purpose - one for groceries, one to pay the utilities, etc.
