Rust Never Sleeps

In the nearby city of Charlottesville, they were building a big new hotel. And whenever we went to town, we would pass it. I liked checking out the modern look of it coming together. It started like this, which I thought was unusual & pretty. I couldn't wait to see it finished.

And here it is, finished. They covered up the pretty pink shades with rusted cracks! ARGH! I think it is awful! Rust has it's place, like in lawn decorations etc., but not on the front of a modern building. Just my opinion. And I have been seeing this on other buildings, what is the DEAL? It looks old and run down right after being built.

Maybe that is "modern" built and we are not used to that ... I don't like rust either ... is ugly and unkempt!

It looks out of place.

I am not a big fan of modern architecture. I love the look of old buildings. I don't care for the rust look on this building. I think it looked better before with the color

Maybe that is what is called a modern building. It looks old and neglected.

This does look old and run down. I don't know why the hotel went with this design. Reminds me of torn jeans...! I think it would be better if they painted with similar colors as the adjacent parts of the building.

That is one of the strangest buildings I have seen...

As Neil says...it's better to burn out then to fade away..

You know i will be singing that all day now!

not to my taste at all! i love rusty things but not this. i actually don't like any of the building, it looks like it is old and ready to be demolished. our world is strange. bring on the log cabin Inn for me.

I am going to have to check if we have that hotel here and if they look the same - weird...

That is different, I agree.

I think the place looked better before they finished it.

It does look very odd for a new building. At our textile museum there is a rusty facade on one wall but that connects to the history of the building (which used to be a factory). Very different from this...

Seems strange. It looks like the rust protector first coat not a finished product.
Not a fan for sure.

A different look indeed. The new look is anything that no one else has. I think it's neat how you followed along with the building and captured different views.

It was much prettier before adding the rust, I wonder if they are regretting putting it on!.
Thank you for your visit, and your very sweet comment,

I would hope that this is not the finished look.

Not to be outdone by that upstart The Big Cow and his friends, the Big Cat bought a new Easter bonnet! It is purrrfectly lovely! And while ...
