Whatever it is or was, it sure has a nice roof. Perhaps it was a house that has now sunk into the ground. lol

It looks like there used to be a sled there and it collapsed and they kept the roof but it may be something that shelter something. Wonder if it is a roof of a house - long ago???
Could be a cellar with a attic over it, my grandma had one something like this.Attic had a very small door and was used to store things too good to throw away. My parents had a cellar with a smoke house over it but was much taller.Or as Jeannie said maybe a spring house.

I'm thinking cellar dug into the ground for storage of food? but I've never seen on with quite that kind of roof I have to say. On what kind of property was it?
That's an interesting building. A barn that lost its support of planked walls? But it would be a useful house for pigs I'm sure :)
