saying, “Please, O Master, if you see anything good in me, please Master,
travel with us, hard-headed as these
people are. Forgive our iniquity and sin. Own us, possess us.”

You got some great photos Ginny.
That is so cool!!! We had a feathered friend visit us - IN the house!!! I am amazed this does not happen more often.
We leave our French doors wide open in good weather and today I could hear a rustling in some of the rooms. I think I got a pic of our visitor but it was blurry. It's funny because I took one of those Facebook quizzes that goes around and it said I am 'obsessed' with nature! So be it!!!!
WOW! Now that is a great bird to have visited your garden and you got great shots of it.
Four words: I AM SO JEALOUS!!
Hard headed indeed! I love the red crest. It looks like the woodpecker is wearing a red hat :-) We have wookpeckers visiting our home sometimes, but never seen one like this. They peck the foot of the deck. I hope they won't take it down!
Very cool, Ginny. I haven't seen any pileated woodpeckers this year...and, yes, I have been looking and listening for them.
when i saw the title in my feedly line i expected you had ripped off a picture of Bob and decided to use it on your blog.. LOL.... he likes to climb trees to.. seems we are all as hard headed as the Israelite were so many years ago
We have several Pileated Woodpeckers around our house. We try to keep them happy and well-fed since we have a wooden house and don't want them poking holes in it!
So nicely taken, Ginny... like postcards and reminded me of National Geographic!
I think that's the kind of woodpecker "Woody" is. Or, should I say "was" because I haven't seen a cartoon with him in it for decades.
Best,
Bonnie
Nice pics. Hard-headed caught in the act!
This is a large and beautiful woodpecker. I have seen and photographed them several times.
Dear Ginny, It really is a blessing to witness these beautiful birds.
xo Catherine
I've only seen a woodpecker around here once. these are great shots
Great pictures of the Pileated Woodpecker, Ginny... I love mine.. Have you heard them 'holler' at you from the trees???? The ones who visit me --and eat at the suet feeder--will make themselves known (they are LOUD) before getting to the feeders. Maybe they are telling the other birds that they are coming --so "Get out of the way".... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
That woodpecker is huge. Great photos of him.
Amazing how they have heads and necks to withstand the blows.
God is so creative.
Wow...awesome and powerful...I can only imagine the damage they could do to a garage or deck. I want to wish you a Thanksgiving Day filled with blessings and to Thank You for being my blogger friend. I always enjoy visiting your blog :)Dee
Hi Ginny! Such a beautiful bird! I hear a woodpecker when I'm at my mom's but I've not been able to see it. Love how bright the red is on his/her feathers!! Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
They are such pretty birds. Happy Thanksgiving!
Can you imagine the vibrations that must take place in their little heads? Such beautiful birds and very interesting as well...
Hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving..
