The Results Are In!

You have been asking what I have done with the cat shelves, and I have just finished it! Thank you all so much for your awesome suggestions! You had so many good ideas, ones that I could never think of! I loved the suggestions to put a plant on it. So I got an artificial fern, as my blog friend LISA suggested. I put a jar candle in the bottom to give it some stability. And here it is! Now I need to think of a name for him, any suggestions? I actually know a woman named Fern...

Bedding Down

Today we were at Big Lots, and happened to see a shelf full of marked down cat beds. They had some that were just the right size, and also matched our furniture. So we bought one. The cats loved it. They BOTH loved it. And they started arguing over it, each one wanting to lay in it.

Back to Big Lots we go. It had only been about an hour, but there was only ONE bed left! We buy the bed and come home. We put it in Simba's hiding place under the end table. He sleeps there ever since the big fireworks incident. He tried it out for a few minutes.
Then he went right back to the first bed, so they are still arguing over the first bed and ignoring the other one! They both want the same bed! I'm getting sleepy now...

“The bed is a bundle of paradoxes: we go to it with reluctance, yet we quit it with regret; we make up our minds every night to leave it early, but we make up our bodies every morning to keep it late.”
Charles Caleb Colton

“Og king of Bashan was the last remaining Rephaite. His bed, made of iron, was over thirteen feet long and six wide.

Something Fishy Is Going On

These pictures are from last week at the duck pond. We came to feed the ducks, but ended up feeding the fish! The pond had a lot of fish. And they were huge, bigger than the ducks! The fish would push the ducks away and race ahead to get the food. They even came up to the fence and stuck their mouths out of the water! Brazen fish indeed. There was really not much we could do; wherever we went, so did the fish. We fed the few ducks that were up on land and then left. Such is life, the swiftest prevail. But in the next life, the meek will prevail!

The Little Tree That Could

This little tree is a few blocks away. It is some kind of maple tree. But here is the thing. Every summer it turns golden. Not yellow, not orange, but GOLDEN. It is dark and unremarkable the rest of the year. It has been here for maybe 25 years or more, yet it stays tiny and never grows. It is growing on the sidewalk surrounded by cement, maybe that is what is keeping it small. Though tiny, It literally glows with gold. In this case, bigger is definitely not better.

“He won’t brush aside the bruised and the hurt and he won’t disregard the small and insignificant, but he’ll steadily and firmly set things right.

Through The Wires Thursday

I looked out the window this evening after a short storm. The sky looked pretty, so we went out to investigate. The sun was already setting, so we had no time to find a place with no wires. We just drove down the highway and snapped. The driving is why the pictures are not so clear.

“No one in his right mind stares straight at the sun on a clear and cloudless day. As gold comes from the northern mountains, so a terrible beauty streams from God.

The Bean Eaters

It was twilight, and we were parked by a field waiting for the super moon to rise. We turned to look at the field, and look who had come out for dinner! Phil believes this was a bean field, and they were sure getting their fill. They did not even run from us, so they must have been very hungry. Thank you so very much for your kind comments on my last post!

A Friend's Accident

A friend died last night. Not a really close friend, but when he moved we kept in touch on Facebook. He was in his 20's, had a brilliant job, just got married a couple months ago. His whole life was ahead of him. He just bought a fancy new car. It was the car that killed him. Now he is brain dead and waiting to have his organs harvested.  I am the one to announce it all to the church, everyone is heartbroken. So I will not be visiting today, I will see you tomorrow or the next day. God is in control of everything.

Trapped!

Today I have a special post for my followers who have pets. Namely, cats and dogs. Our cats kept going into a room, and marking the edge of the door. The door slams shut and they are locked in. But I came across an awesome idea! I bought a pool noodle. You can get them almost anywhere in the summer and they are only one or two dollars. I got this yellow one at Wal-Mart. Anyway, cut off a piece at least six inches long and fit it onto the door edge. The door will not shut! It will just bounce back. Happy me, happy cats.

Dizzy

These lilies kind of remind me of the stargazers in my last post, but they are called DIZZY. And I was almost dizzy with giddiness with I saw them!

“Like a lily the land will blossom. It will rejoice and sing with joy. It will have the glory of Lebanon, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. Everyone will see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.”

Gazing At The Stars

The Stargazer Lilys are here! Aren't they beautiful? To me, they are girly lilys with their awesome pink! They were created in 1974 by a breeder in California. Next post, I will show you a different Stargazer!

Dirty Dishes

Here is a house a few minutes away from us, and they have a really WOW yard! Well, actually it is an apartment! Pink and yellow decorations. But the best thing is the flower border they made by sticking their plates in the ground!

They light up their plate border at night!

Then there's this other house in the other direction...they display their plates outside on a plate rack!

“Turn both your pockets and your hearts inside out and give generously to the poor; then your lives will be clean, not just your dishes and your hands.
