Saint Brendan

Saint Brendan was ordained as a priest at 26, and he founded quite a few monasteries. He was called "Brendan The Navigator" because, as the story goes, he traveled the high seas with a group of other monks. They were evangelizing and searching for the Garden Of Eden.

The legend says he stopped at a small island to light a fire and Celebrate Easter Mass. The island turned out to be a giant fish! These old paintings of the event really amused me!

This is the inside of the church named after him. All my pictures are from the web, of course.

“Then God assigned a huge fish to swallow Jonah. Jonah was in the fish’s belly three days and nights.

Strong Man

Strong Man sits in a field all by himself.

Well, he does have some friends. Cows. Strong Man sits in a field full of cows.

Strong Man has a heart. So he is both caring AND strong. He is the whole package.

You might say that he is every girl's dream date. But he prefers to hang out with the cows. Too bad, a good man is hard to find. Rock on, Strong Man!

As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is his love to those who fear him.”

God's Glory

I took these sunset pictures late last year. I think it may be the most beautiful sky I have ever photographed.

“God’s glory is on tour in the skies,
God-craft on exhibit across the horizon.”

Out Of The Blue

This was an outdoor art exhibit we attended last summer.

There was a T.V. reporter interviewing the artist for the news. This was her face when she saw ME with my camera aimed at her!

The name of this exhibit is "Alee Of Dreams". Alee means "away from the wind". And I sure am glad there was wind that day, because the exhibit needs wind to interact. And it did that beautifully!

“Immediately I saw Four Angels standing at the four corners of earth, standing steady with a firm grip on the four winds so no wind would blow on earth or sea, not even rustle a tree.”

Owning The Sun

The next few days are to be pretty rainy and dreary. But these people have the sun ALL the time! They have attached it to their houses. I want to do this!

He shines a spotlight into caves of darkness, hauls deepest darkness into the noonday sun.”

What Are You Worth?

Our granddaughter Dara was grocery shopping with her mom. At the checkout, she was looking forward to her usual sticker. But the checkouts were out of stickers. The cashier gave her the only one she had, a price sticker. And Dara was happy with it!

“What is the price of five sparrows? A couple of pennies? Not much more than that. Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And he knows the number of hairs on your head! Never fear, you are far more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows.

Luke 12

The Wheels

We were at the Botanical Garden one night for their Christmas light show. This year the theme was bikes. Bikes were lit up and hidden all over the grounds. As we tiptoed through the electric blue tulips, we were totally enchanted. They even had a bike Christmas tree!

“And then I saw four wheels beside the cherubim, one beside each cherub. The wheels radiating were sparkling like diamonds in the sun. All four wheels looked alike, each like a wheel within a wheel. When they moved, they went in any of the four directions but in a perfectly straight line.”

Can You See?

It’s really blue as blue can be.
When you look, can you see?
It was such a deep dark night.
But something’s hidden in the light.
Can you see what’s hidden here?
My next post will make it clear.

A Celebration!

This weekend we celebrated our son Mike's 46th birthday. Here we are, mom and son!

The restaurant we all went to had cows on the wall and milk bottle lights.

Here we all are! But if you look closely, SOMEONE is goofing off...

There, now that's better. That's me in the front, Phil taking the picture

Back home, gymnastics were in order to work off the calories.

Everyone had fun with little paper crowns!

Though Mike is now middle aged, I will always think of him like this!

They say that age is all in your mind. The trick is keeping it from creeping down into your body.

Milkshakes

The look you give when your sister's milkshake is much bigger than yours.

A WOW moment for one little granddaughter. Big girls get bigger shakes.

Locked In!!

What are these tools doing on the floor?

Phil is breaking into one of our rooms!

The door is hard to unlock, so he had to take the whole doorknob off.

Our kitty Sunny had gotten locked in the playroom. He came out in a huff.

Tail fluffed up, he was not happy.

He wouldn't look directly at us for the rest of the day.

“Eight days later, his disciples were again in the room. This time Thomas was with them. Jesus came through the locked doors, stood among them, and said, “Peace to you.”
