In General

Our Dollar General store moved into a new building this year, and it is larger and has a fancy layout. Here are a few of the spring things I found there.  A mug of my blog title! Plus this other mug seemed to go with it, so I bought them both. After all, it is a DOLLAR store!

And this cute little glass stacked cannister!

I put different Easter candies in it, and sat it beside my coffee creamer cannister.

I don’t always drink water, but when I do, it’s coffee.

My java lets me espresso myself!

Coffee goes well with coffee.

Coffee helps me hide my sarcasm.

It's No Weiner, But It'll Have To Do

I have always wanted to see the actual Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. But I have resigned myself to knowing I likely never will. We passed this Red Bull car, so it will have to do instead.

I read that their slogan "Red Bull Gives You Wings", is one of the most popular and memorable advertising campaigns in the world. Funny, I have never heard of it!

Red Bull mainly contains carbonation, caffeine, and B vitamins. I'd rather have a hot dog.

The Pink House

This house is in our neighborhood. It is so cute with the different shades of pink trim. And they have a chick and a rabbit in the front yard. You may think this is for spring, but it is like this all year round!

Sunday Sunset

On the way home, we passed the house on the corner that always has green lights on.

A Plague Among Us

A Plague of Cicadas. that is. This year, trillions of Cicadas will emerge across the eastern U.S.  This will be a rare double mega-breed! How would you like trillions of these red eyes staring at you?

I think this one has wings that look like abalone shell.

Some people think they are a kind of locust or grasshopper, but they aren't. They are considered "true insects".

There are 190 varieties of Cicada here in the U.S.A. And 3,400 varieties around the world. and the buzz they make is about the same decibels as a chain saw! But don't worry, they are completely harmless to people. Of course, all my photos are from the web.

Here is a map that shows their emergence facts.

Nothing in the cry of cicadas suggests they are about to die

Matsuo Basho

“In past summers when I had been home, I had often tasted a strange sadness as I sat quietly in the midst of the seething cicada song. This sorrow seemed to pierce deep into my heart along with the piercing insect cry. Always at such times I would sit alone and still, gazing into myself. “

All You Need Is Love

Virginia's motto is "Virginia Is For Lovers". So there are always quite a few big love signs on roads and public grounds. Here is the latest one we saw, in front of the library. I like it because people can come up to it and write on it! I think my favorite message is "Earl, stop driving!"

Here is Phil standing beside it.

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

Slothful Sunday

I am being followed by sloths! But they are friendly and wave to me from their passing cars. I can relate to them, though. I go very slowly, but I see more things that way.

Valentine Cat

No, I did not forget the Big Cat for Valentine's Day. I wonder what he thinks about sharing his fame with the Big Cow?

Adora Bull

The Big Cow says Happy Valentine's Day! He all dressed up and ready to party with a pretty cow.

He also has his little calf with him.

Which is SO....

“So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.

A Short Trip

Let's go on a very short trip to the Garden Center and see if they have done anything for Valentine's Day! On the way, we will look at decorations in yards. This house always has a flag and mailbox to match.

I think this is classy.

A door doily!

A Valentine setting for two.

Do you think this red leather couch counts as Valentine decor?

We have finally arrived at the front of the Garden Center.

I think these flowers are fake.

Wild Violets

The wild Violets are growing in yards everywhere now! They are so sweet. We have quite a few in our yard, and I hate for them to be mowed d...
