The Woodpeckers

This lovely little statue sits just outside the side door of a hospital. I love it!

Even the woodpecker owes its success to the fact that he used his head.

Yellow

I forget where we were going, but we drove past this house with all these yellow flowers in the front yard.

It is actually a small farm, and they sell eggs on the honor system, self serve. I wish we had stopped!

The Rains

I believe I have already posted these pictures of when the sky was half light and half dark. Do you see the profile of a face here?

But what I didn't post was what came right after. The rains in the distance. My mom could smell rain coming. Can you?

“There’s an element of suspense in the air. The air is charged and dense… There’s always a period of curious fear between the first sweet-smelling breeze and the time when the rain comes cracking down.”

In The Hood

A few days ago, we spotted a group of Hooded Mergansers. I was so excited, because I have never seen any before! Too bad that we had to idle on the side of a busy highway to snap them, with cars racing by. This is why the pictures are not the best, plus they were a decent distance away. We had to leave way before I was ready.

This one is the female and the rest are males.

An optimist is someone who figures that if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's the bluebird of happiness. ~Robert Braul

Monday Mural

Here are a few of the creatures that were painted at our annual street art festival. The scaffold is still there because the artists were still painting. I love the woodpecker pecking at the building!

Just because it is not in a museum does not mean it is not art.

Into The Heart Of The sun

The birds were flying right into the heart of the sun.

Only from the heart can you touch the sky.

The Puzzle

Do you do jigsaw puzzles? We like to, but our time to do them is limited. This is a recent one that we finished. I think it is SO cute. But what are the little creatures? Maybe field mice?

Freewheelin'

Believe it or not, this is not a real mill. It is a miniature in a neighborhood front yard.

This sits in an outdoor art park. I'm not really sure of it's purpose.

This owl mailbox is in the area.

At Halloween time, they added an RIP tombstone and giant spider.

Another strange vehicle at the art park.

A logmobile?

“Sometimes I feel that life is passing me by, not slowly either, but with ropes of steam and spark-spattered wheels and a hoarse roar of power or terror. It's passing, yet I'm the one who's doing all the moving. I'm not the station, I'm not the stop: I'm the train. I'm the train.”

Through The Wires Thursday

The fall days that I took these pictures were just a bit foggy, can you tell? Only the ever present wires to ruin the photos. Fog & Wires...

“How cold it is! Even the lights are cold;
They have put shawls of fog around them, see!
....What a silver night!”
~Sara Teasdale

Hungry

We saw this in an art exibition of a community college. They are baby birds with their beaks wide open.

Computer In The Shop

Remember when I took a break to download windows 10? The computer guy said he cannot do it here, it needs to be in the shop. It will take several hours. So we are taking my laptop into the shop early this Monday morning, and he should bring it back sometime Tuesday. Needless to say, I will be without the computer for a couple days, so cannot blog or do e-mail. Hope to see you soon!!

Black & White

More art by kids! This time I chose the ones that were black and white. This one is called "Drop In The Water". It was made by a high school student using a sharpie. Can you see that it is all made from letters, numbers, & symbols?

This vase has a dragon winding around it.

Garage Greetings

Want to know why this is so different? It's a garage door! This is the latest Christmas decorating thing around here.
