The 4th Of July House

They are at it again! Remember the house that gets painted and decorated for each different holiday? Here it is from Easter & Valentine's Day in previous posts.

Well, now they have painted it again and decorated for the 4th of July.

Welcome To Lake Hillier

First, I will not be blogging all day on Thursday, as we will be gone for the day. Welcome to Lake Hillier, on Middle Island off the coast of Australia. and you are seeing right, it is bright pink! I took these photos from the T.V. show called Impossible Planet, and I did not change the color.

The lake is surrounded by the Great Southern Ocean. It is a constant pink color, and does not fluctuate with the seasons.

It was in 2016 that the reason for the color was discovered. It is from a red colored bacterium that is a long scientific word I cannot spell. The bacterium is not rare, but there is a lot more of it in this lake than any other one.

Care to go for a swim?

It's Not October

Yet we happened to be behind this car. So what's the deal?

It's nowhere near Halloween, so I really don't get it. Makes me wonder...

Say "Cheese"

Come along with me to The Cheese Shop, owned by local Mennonites. It is old fashioned, with a deli, homemade sandwiches, and all kinds of packages of nuts, candy, flours, trail mix, Whoopie Pies, etc.

So, did you buy anything?

The Magnolia

The only blogger to get the exact details of my mystery photo right was Happy One at Life Is Good. It was a Magnolia tree seed pod. We have many Magnolias around here, and they have just finished blooming. The trees are huge, taller than some houses!

The blooms are as big as dinner plates.

And the leaves are glorious; thick, shiny, and huge, A different color on each side.

Interesting and large seed pods, too.

Magnolia trees have been on earth for many millions of years. They symbolize strength, longevity, and purity.

According to a Japanese legend, it is advisable not to sleep or stay too long under a blooming magnolia tree, since the intense perfume of its flowers could stun or even kill.

A Real Cool Cat

Today is the first day of summer, and the Big Cat is ready and dressed for it. Wearing a seashell bra and a hula skirt, I believe he is hinting at a trip to the beach. πŸ„
