I have been seeing such a big price difference between orange and white pumpkins. The white ones cost about double of the orange! I found there are many reasons, including that fewer farmers grow white pumpkins, and they are considered heirloom or specialty types.
Seeing these green ones in Wal-Mart, I can only imagine what they would cost!
“The orange pumpkin sings of tradition and warmth; the white whispers elegance, a ghost of autumn’s softer side.”

Lovely photos, Ginny. The brown eggs here cost more than the white ones. I was at a farmers market over a year ago and I asked a farmer what the difference between the white and brown eggs. He told me just the colour. Yet the grocery store charges more for the brown ones.
It gets me how they can figure out a way to charge more for something. I've seen the white pumpkins used a lot in decorating.. Me? I prefer an orange pumpkin.
Such interesting facts about white versus orange pumpkins, Ginny. I wasn't aware of that. Blessings!
I've noticed that too. And of course, I love the white ones.
With the cost difference in mind, many crafters are painting their orange pumpkins white. A water based paint is sufficient for indoor displays and for outside, a waterproof sealer. The painted ones look very nice.
That makes sense that the white ones cost a little more if the farmers don't grow them as much. I've always loved both orange and white pumpkins during the Fall season. And Jess and Nel love those greyish green ones. I love this quote, Ginny. Your side bars go nicely with your Header today.

I love all the different color of pumpkins but it's so hot here that generally if you put them out in front of the house, they just rot. I'm always optimistic with mums and pumpkins but I worry they'll just wither and die far too soon, hahaha xoxo
I like the orange ones! But I think Debby’s idea of painting them if you want another color is a good one.
Our local grocery store has a lot of both the orange pumpkins as well as the white and even green. I did notice that the prices were higher on the white ones. I've been decorating with a good bit of white this year for fall. not sure why but I am enjoying the look
White is nice but I still prefer the orange!
That is so true - the price difference is quite something! I guess I will stick to the good old orange ones.
I like the photo you used for your header. So pretty.
Everything is expensive these days. I understand the white are a little more money but twice the price. I like both colors of pumpkins. Looking forward to October Ginny.
Hello, my friend! I am happy to see pumpkins! I have not seen very many white ones, but I am partial to the traditional orange. This time of year is my favorite. I always think of going grocery shopping with FLynn when she was little, and letting her pick one of the tiny pumpkins to take home. Ahhh, memories. Have a lovely weekend!
I love them both. We got two big orange ones from Aldi for four bucks each. Killer good deal - looks like Wally's were good prices too! Love that 🎃
These are great! I love it when the pumpkins are on sale. Brightens everything up. Interesting about the white ones and the difference between pricing.
