Sunday Sunset - Spotted

They usually happen near sunset. Like rainbows, except they are spots instead of bows. Often you will see one on either side of the sun. Can you see it?

They are called Sun Dogs, but I don't like that name so I call them Sunspots. Because that's what they are. They are caused by ice crystals high up in the air that act like prisms. It is always fun to see one.

Very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen them before. I may have and not noticed them. I'll have to pay more attention from now on

I can see them and they are so pretty. I learned a lot about them when our grandson was doing weather in the Air Force. He taught me a lot about the clouds and the different formations. He has moved on now into Space Force, so hopefully I can learn about Space now.

What a spectacular sunset, Ginny. The sunspots makes it even prettier. And that looks like lightning on your Header. I'm so glad you have a place to take these wonderful photos of the sunsets.
