Transparent

I took these on April sixth. No, those bright colors are not edits. I believe they are just the heat from the sun.

Woodson's Mill

Welcome to Woodson's Mill, deep in the heart of Virginia. It was built in 1794, and is the only working mill in the state that is entirely water powered. It still makes stone ground grits and flours twice a month in the summer. And all with water power.

“One day’s food supply for Solomon’s household was: 185 bushels of fine flour 375 bushels of meal 10 grain-fed cattle 20 range cattle 100 sheep and miscellaneous deer, gazelles, roebucks, and choice fowl.

The Watch Crow & The Ghost Crow

Awhile ago, we happened to pass a construction site. They really did not want any trespassing! But instead of watchdogs, they seemed to have a watch crow guarding the place. And he was vigilant.

Uh OH! Looks like we've been spotted. Since we had no hard hats in the car, we made a speedy retreat.

Whew, that was a close call. Come to think of it, this incident reminded me of the time we spotted a crow sitting on his own gravestone. Must have been a ghost crow.

“Frost glimmered on the morning fields. Crows called across the pewter afternoons.”

Our New Kitchen

Witness our kitchen cabinet doors. Until today, they were very plain. And then, viola, they were transformed!! How did we do it?

It is peel and stick decals!! They come on this roll, and you just peel them off and stick! They can be moved over and over! You can put them on walls, cabinets, or any smooth surface! I got only this one roll because it was the last one left. But I will be buying more and doing the rest of the kitchen!! I LOVE them!! Now we have our own little cafe corner under the coffee maker.

This is all thanks to my blog friend Linda, at Linda's Life journal! She bought some and posted them. Hers were a chef pattern. And she was kind enough to tell me where she bought them!

Now for my question. Do you think I should buy more of the same, or a different pattern, maybe chefs??

All You Need Is...

About a year ago,the city of Harrisonburg, Va. put up this love sign. And of course we went to see it.

The L is supposed to stand for the city's multi-cultural heritage.

The 0 stands for their agricultural heritage. And no, Phil is not napping. The sun was in his eyes.

The V is for outdoor recreation.

And the E is for the arts. I really can't see a relationship to the words, except the V looks like monkey bars and the L has different colored fabrics.

But we all do need lots of love!

Growing Old

The other day, while Anne Marie and her mom were having breakfast at Starbucks, her mom took this picture. Everyone on Facebook thought she looks so much older, like a teenager! Maybe, but I cannot be objective. What do you think?

Here we are together about a month ago. I made the picture in black & white because I like the way it looks.

Sooo...how many of you remember how old she REALLY is?

Letting Their Lights Shine

Here are my favorite or most strange lights from the Christmas season. They are all different, and each one is unique in their own way! This first one is a deer beside a cross that has a halo.

Here are our old buddies, the M&M's guys. Don't know what they have to do with Christmas, except  that we eat a lot more of them then.

The next two pictures show a house with a Santa hot air balloon taking a couple penguins for a ride.

Dinosaur. I don't have a clue.

Para sailing nerd? Your guess is as good as mine. But cute.

I just loved the look of this house.

This house draped strands of lights over their railing, such a pretty look!

And finally, the last three are one spectacular house. WOW, it may have been my favorite. I will show you in the order that we saw it as we were driving up to it.

Forsythia!

The Forsythia are blooming now, and seem to scream joy and sunshine. Here are ones in town. This is our little one in the front yard. This ...
