Fields Of Gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
Gordon Sumner (Sting)

The other day as we rounded a bend, we passed this gorgeous field of gold. I claimed that it had to be barley because of the Sting song, Phil said that wheat is gold as well, and that agrees with this bible verse. So we sill do not know what it is. Any ideas? Whatever it is, it was a wonderful vision, something I won't soon forget. If we were both younger, we might have chanced to actually walk in the fields of gold.

“Paint the wheat fields golden. Creation was made for this! Drench the plowed fields; soak the dirt clods with rainfall as harrow and rake bring her to blossom and fruit.”
Psalm 65

“Offer prayers unceasing to him; bless him from morning to night. Fields of golden grain in the land, cresting the mountains in wild exuberance, Cornucopias of praise, praises springing from the city like grass from the earth.”
Psalm 72

Not sure what these bright yellow fields are, but we used to have them full of yellow bitter weeds.

When we used to drive down to Tullahoma every other week to visit Dad Adams, we would see these Fields of Gold along the road headed that way this time of year... We haven't seen anything this year ---so that makes me realize that we need to get out and take a ride in the country!!!! Gorgeous!
Hugs,
Betsy

Wow, those fields of gold are beautiful. We have lots of wheat fields around here but I have never seen them look that gold. Maybe it's canola like Anni said.
