Spanish Beauties

Now I want to show you another kind of bluebells, Spanish Scilla, or Spanish Bluebells. And yes, they are from Spain and Portugal! See how different the little bell is from the other bluebell? This one has a rather scalloped edge, where the other bells were smooth. These are sometimes called "Fairy Thimbles" and are rung to summon the fairies to their conventions. They are also symbols of humility and gratitude.

“Dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline.”

Colossians 3

These bluebells look like they are ready for a fancy ball with their frilly petals. I love what you did to the photo you used as a header Ginny!

Wow the Spanish Bluebells are so beautiful! Love their color. How lovely they are rung to summon fairies. There must be many fairies flying around the flower :-)

Gorgeous photos of an exquisite little flower. I love bluebells and am thankful they grow in Virginia also. Thanks for visiting! The little bug you asked about was near a wooded area. I am not sure how far the range is but I hope you get to see one like him some day. Nature is full of wonder :) Have a great rest of the week Ginny :)

Very pretty. I don't believe I have ever seen or noticed a bluebell with a scalloped edge.
