Rugelah

Meet my new favorite sweet! It is the Jewish pastry Rugelah. I had never heard of it before, but happened to pass it in the grocery store bakery. They are made of pastry layers, and I understand they can be filled with many things, like cream cheese. The ones I saw happened to be chocolate. They are soft, maybe five inches. I tried one this morning and it was very good, not too sweet. I would love to try another filling. I am guessing this is the only time of year they are sold. Yum!

Oh, these look good! I hadn't heard of them before now. Love the scripture and I don't know why I haven't remembered reading it as I've read Proverbs many times. I think I should put this one up in my kitchen somewhere! lol!

A friend of mine in Alaska used to make something that looked a lot like those. She filled hers with cream cheese. I didn't remember what they were called until I saw your post Ginny. They were delicious.

Dear Ginny, I hope all is well. I am sorry for being behind in visiting.
I enjoyed these sweets as a girl. A friend of my grandmothers taught her how to make these treats and my grandmother made them all of the time. She made them with a variety of fillings and yes, they were delicious. I have tried, but they are not like my grandmothers.
