Copper

Skinks are a type of lizard that spend most of their time either underground or up in trees. So I was really surprised to see this one as I came out of the garden center. There he was in the doorway, shining in the sun like copper. And he posed nicely for me till I was done taking pictures. This was the first time I have seen a pretty lizard.

Oh, at first glance on the first picture, I thought it was a head of a snake.. I was thinking you were really daring to take a picture of a snake head.. so it is a lizard... and a very extraordinary one too! I have never seen such a copper color lizard before...

Wow! That is beautiful. My one time to capture a skink photo was in our former backyard. It was dark with a neon blue stripe. I finally identified it as a three-toed skink with the help of one of the researchers at the Gulf Coast Research Lab where I had been public information officer for almost 10 years.

Great photos of this copper colored skink Ginnie. I had no idea they liked trees. I am back after my blogging break. I am slowly trying to catch up with all my blogging friends. I have missed visiting you :)

He is quite pretty in your pictures Ginny, I'm just not sure I would have been brave enough to stand there long enough to get picture of him!

I've never seen one this pretty! My cats love to sit in the window and watch these out the window.

I did not have your email address, so I will try to answer your question/comment on my blog. We have always had a dream to retire in the mountains and I have always loved the town where I attended a small Christian college 40 years ago. Just so happened about 6 weeks ago that I was looking online at homes for sale in the area, and saw this one.
When the leaves fall, we will have a view of Yonah Moutain, a mountain my friends and I hiked during college years. Isn't that something? God has truly blessed us.
Thank you for your visit and sweet comment and yes, I will share more photos as we get organized.
God bless you both this evening.
