The Dragon

We all went to a local Chinese restaurant to celebrate a few birthdays. It had recently renovated, and was really beautiful! First, some of their lights.

We sat beside this fish.

And now, The Dragon.

In fact, this dragon head is the front of an entire ship that serves as the salad bar!

“War broke out in Heaven. Michael and his Angels fought the Dragon. The Dragon and his Angels fought back, but were no match for Michael.”

Please Interpret

This is one of my favorite paintings! I saw it hanging in a Red Robin, and took these shots of it. Any white spots are reflections from the ceiling lights. But what IS it? What is going on? Some sort of solemn service in the rain? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

“I dreamed a dream,” Pharaoh told Joseph. “Nobody can interpret it. But I’ve heard that just by hearing a dream you can interpret it.”

The Reveal - Both Sides Now

On my last post, I should you this tangled metal from the back side, where you could not tell what it was.

Now let's look at the OTHER side.

It is a horse, standing on his back legs! Just shows that it pays to look at both sides of all things. Some of your guesses were very close!

“Then I saw Heaven open wide—and oh! a white horse and its Rider.”

Tangled

We came upon this sculpture at the wrong side, and could not figure out what it was. It looked like just a bunch of tangled metal. After going to the other side, what a difference! It is something we all recognize. Can you figure out what it is? I will show you on my next post.

“When he was alone with his disciples, he went over everything, sorting out the tangles, untying the knots.”

Flower Pot Man

Here is a man made from flower pots
And for today that’s all I gots.

“Isn’t it obvious that a potter has a perfect right to shape one lump of clay into a vase for holding flowers and another into a pot for cooking beans? If God needs one style of pottery especially designed to show his angry displeasure and another style carefully crafted to show his glorious goodness, isn’t that all right?”

The Change

We were in the car going somewhere at sunset. And within about 20 minutes, the sky changed in all these ways. I am posting in order. Watching the difference amazed me.

Fame

These art pieces were made by kids in grade school! They were displayed in a local museum, along with other talented kid's work. Do you recognize the two famous faces?

“The purity of silver and gold is tested by putting them in the fire; The purity of human hearts is tested by giving them a little fame.”

Be Our Guest

Yesterday, we spent the evening with our three granddaughters. Come along and see what a goofy visit we had. Dinner was bought at THREE different places, in order to accommodate everyone's preferences! Here we are being silly.

We watched "Booty & The Beast". Our middle girl has trouble pronouncing the word "beauty." I leave the jokes to you.

Joke glasses were tried on.

Phil joined in the playing.

Anne Marie built a heart kite and a wall out of Dominoes.

And at the end of Booty & The Beast, everyone went home very happy!

Now I need to get MY booty off to bed.

“I saw the Beast and, assembled with him, earth’s kings and their armies, ready to make war against the One on the horse and his army.”

Here Is The Church

And here is the steeple.

Brightness everywhere! The way a rainbow springs out of the sky on a rainy day—that’s what it was like. It turned out to be the Glory of God! When I saw all this, I fell to my knees, my face to the ground.

The Blogging O' The green

We were at a science museum, and they were setting up for a banquet. The front door was wide open, and the wind was blowing in.

A Green Ride

What do you get when you cross poison ivy with a four-leaf clover?  A rash of good luck.

“Take a lesson from the fig tree. From the moment you notice its buds form, the merest hint of green, you know summer’s just around the corner.”
Mark 13

“May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!”

The Books

Isn't this a lovely library room?

This awesome old desk sits in there.

Well, guess what? There are NO books. It is wallpaper in a gift shop. Did I fool you?

This podium IS made of real books, and sits in a college art building.

“There’s no end to the publishing of books, and constant study wears you out so you’re no good for anything else. The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you.”

The Velociraptor

Sitting on the very edge of a major highway is the fierce Velociraptor. You may recognize him from the Jurassic Park movies.

Velociraptors had feathers, but could not fly. And they were very small, about the size of a turkey.

Their most powerful weapons were the the single curved claws on their hind feet.

Artist Caesar Morton made him from wood, wisteria, cow bones, teeth, sand, walnuts, stingray egg casings, and pine cones. I did not recognize any of the materials except these pine cones.

So there you have him, in all his gory glory. Let's hope there are no wrecks.

"God doesn’t hold back on his anger;

even dragon-bred monsters cringe before him."

Sunday Sunset

I snapped these from the Target parking lot. The sun had just gone down, but the trees were hiding the very bottom part of the sunset. Life...
