The Neighborhood Market

I bet you thought this was going to be about a farmer's market or a craft market, right? But in fact, our new market is a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. Have you heard of them? Is there one where you live?

We already have a large Wal-Mart, but this new Neighborhood Market is right in our neighborhood. It is a small Wal-Mart. They sell only a limited amount of groceries, plus gas. It is basically for people who just want to run in somewhere for a loaf of bread, and maybe some milk and cat food. This way, they don't have to look all over and do a lot of walking in a large store. We call it Wal-Market.
Here is their Christmas Tree

It is only fitting that I am posting about a store on Black Friday. Will you be going out to shop? Our Black Friday started today! They keep moving it sooner and sooner.

No, I never shop on "Black Friday" no matter what day it falls on. I've never heard of these Walmart Markets. Interesting concept. Not sure I want more brick buildings taking up green space but... my views on things won't stop Walmart or any other business, I'm guessing. :-) ~Andrea XOXO

No I do not like shopping so shopping on Black Friday would be a nightmare for me.

I have never shopped on black Friday. I'm almost always working but I've never even wanted to go out and deal with all the crowds.
Walmart doesn't have one of those around here that I've seen. Hopefully they won't start. They have driven out enough small business here.

Wal-Mart - no, we don't have. We have many big supermarket and shopping malls. In my area we have supermarkets as well as mini markets. I will go to the nearest if I need something urgently, depending on what I want to buy.

I was about to type we don't have one, we have 5 super WM within 8 mile radius so no need, but then I searched and there is ONE 6 miles from us. I had no idea. but why drive 6 miles when I have 2 that are only 3 miles away. it sounds like they are WM answer to 7/11 stores. they are building a WM 7/11type store with gas in the parking lot of my WM.. I bet it is one of these, makes no sense and is wreaking havoc with our traffic but they care not, WM or the city...

I'll stay away from stores as far as possible this entire weekend. I've seen these Neighborhood Markets in Florida when visiting my son and his family, but we don't have any near us.

We are getting a Walmart superstore to our relatively small town. I'm sure I will shop there, but not too happy about it. I think a small one like this would have been better. It's good to see that the world's largest market can go small too. And I love the tree. I have never shopped in a store on Black Friday. Probably on line, but now I have most all of what I need and I really don't want anything. Which reminds me of that table for the dogs. Better go look to see if it is cheaper today.

We 'imported' Black Friday only a few years ago but it has rapidly grown from Black Friday to Black Weekend to Black Week... will probably be Black Month next year! ;)
I did not go shopping today (only some eggs and bananas, but not on sale!) but I did buy myself a new duvet yesterday, at "black week" price. But I was going to buy that anyway and even if it had not been at reduced price!

Ginny - we had one of those already and it went out of business - don't know why because we loved it.

I like the idea of a smaller Walmart in some communities.I had no plans to go to a store today,Black Friday, but ended up going in the evening.Picked up just a few things and not really great margins.

I have never seen one of those! It's a smart idea. There have been many times I've been willing to pay a little more at a smaller store because I don't feel like transversing Walmart for one item thatis eight miles from the front door.
