Last night I snapped the August full moon. This one is called the full Sturgeon moon, because this month was the best time to catch large Sturgeon fish. It is also called the Green Corn Moon.

The frogs no longer sing at noon,
their songs now saved for the harvest moon.
Summer tiptoes out the door
barefoot, smiling, wanting more.

Ginny, you are amazing ๐ These photos are absolutely gorgeous.
What a beautiful capture, and I love how the moon’s old names carry such rich ties to nature and tradition
No matter what they are called your moon photos are always amazing.
You are so good with the moon shots! These are beautiful!
You take the best moon pictures! And I love the poem. ❤️
I think they call it the Grain Moon too, for whatever reason. Beautiful pictures as always, Ginny. Much love, Andrea xoxo
Wow, wow wow ๐
An amazing moon, Ginny. Wow! Have a great day!
I love the quote you share. I do not want summer tiptoeing out the door!! I want more summer. ;-)
I love and admire your photography skills!!!
That's a great poem to go with these moon shots. Incredible those are Ginny :)
Excellent shot of the moon!
Such great pictures of the moon Ginny. Of course, you always take wonderful pictures of this big massive Piece of our universe. The little quote...the frogs are tiptoeing.
Oops...I wanted to go back and re-read the poem/quote and it's not the frogs that are tiptoeing...it's the summer... lol
You take the best moon pictures. The first one looks like someone took a bit out of it.
Fabulous photographs.
All the best Jan
Ginny - those were beautiful. So how long do you spend getting those shots?
What a lovely full moon. The first two with the pink hues are magical. It's great that you caught this at night. I seldom capture sightings at night time. Thank you for sharing this, Ginny.

Wonderful pictures of the moon. I don't think I've ever seen one it that color.
