Road Trip!
Today Phil and I drove over Afton Mountain to the college city of Charlottesville. It is about 1/2 hour away. Come with us as we drive!
“What a God! His road stretches straight and smooth. Every God-direction is road-tested. Everyone who runs toward him makes it.”

Scarecrows - The Best Of the Rest
Awhile ago, I showed you the stuffed scarecrows around here. Now I will show you the regular ones. There are so many here that I will only show ones that are unique or different in some way. For some reason, this one reminds me of Jimmy Buffet.
I think this one is a girl.
Dracula
I love this one!
Rag doll scarecrows.
And the metal ones
“Life is populated with
scarecrows - all those people and things that seem so scary and trouble our
sleep. Isn’t it nice to know that most of them turn out to be made of nothing
but straw?”

Macabre Monday
Seen in the window of an art gallery. This was on one side of the front window.
And on the other side, perhaps his bride?
She is even wearing strange antique jewelry.
I would wish them a long and happy life, but I am afraid that will not be the case.
“I saw Holy Jerusalem, new-created, descending
resplendent out of Heaven, as ready for God as a bride for her husband.”

Sunday Sunset
A fall sunset for you today! How wonderful it was to just sit in the twilight and watch this.
“Never waste any amount of
time doing anything important when there is a sunset outside that you should be
sitting under!”

Finally, COLOR!
It is a couple weeks late, but overnight the trees turned colors. And it was sure worth the wait. Here is what we woke up to in on Tuesday.
“Autumn burned brightly, a
running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees.”

A Deer, A Rainstorm, & A Pineapple
The girls came over in their costumes last night! Jazz was a deer.
Dara was a rainstorm, with rainbow.
And Anne Marie made a pineapple costume.
Here they are at the table.
Here is some of what they saw in our kitchen.
Dara was so tired from a big day of excitement that she fell sound asleep on her dad's lap in the kitchen. She did not wake up till they all left!
“I’m putting my rainbow in the clouds, a sign of the covenant between me and the Earth. From now
on, when I form a cloud over the
Earth and the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll remember my covenant between me and you and everything
living, that never again will floodwaters destroy all life.”
Genesis 9
