The Good Fairy

When I was a little girl, my mother would tell me tales about Green Wings, the good fairy. And I know she was a Luna Moth, yet I had never seen a real one. My girlfriend remedied that by bringing me one last Sunday. I couldn't have been happier if she had given me a hundred dollars. I fussed and posed with it all evening.
And now meet the Midnight Blue Luna, The only one of it's kind because I just made this edit.
Here are two other edits for you, one with rich color and the other is a Luna Moth kaleidoscope.
Luna Moths only fly at night. The eye spots on the wings are to scare away predators. They do not have mouths, so they cannot eat. They only live for one week, and their only purpose is to mate and lay from 100 to 300 eggs. A sad story of a long ago good fairy in my life.

“Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars.
Matthew 6

How lovely! I only saw one once and that was a few years ago in an indoor butterfly garden, not up close like this one. Marvelous photos Ginny and I like the effects.

I've never seen a luna moth either. It's especially nice to see how you've captured the magic of it's beauty.

Best,

They are so beautiful...I have only seen one or two in my life.

The kaleidoscope one would make a beautiful quilt.

I've never seen this kind of moth before. Its green color is so beautiful! It is sad they only live for a week and can't eat while they are here. Your photo editing is amazing. I especially love the Midnight Blue Luna. Beautiful!!

Those are some great edits Ginny. I especially like the Midnight Blue Luna.

I usually see them in the summer on our patio late in the evening. They don't sit still long so I haven't been able to get photos. But they are so beautiful. It's nice to think of them as fairies.

Awesome photos, Ginny! I love your header, too. I have always thought moths were a bit of a nuisance, I'll look at them differently now.

Fascinating Fairies.

How interesting. I had no idea about Luna moths. No mouths? That's very sad. Love the Scripture, so true.
