Upside Down

All of these Christmas trees have one thing in common, they are upside down! This apparently started in the middle ages to represent the trinity and the crucifixion. Nowadays, stores will do it to make more room at the bottom of the tree, where the merchandise can be more visible. The last picture is a kaleidoscope I made of the peacock.

“Fear God, dear child—respect your leaders; don’t be defiant or mutinous. Without warning your life can turn upside down, and who knows how or when it might happen?”
Proverbs 24

I still think upside down trees are rather strange.
I'll take mine right side up!
I do hope we get our tree up in the next few days or Christmas will be done before we know it.

I didn't realize the upside down tree thing started in the middle ages. I thought it was a crazy kid idea. I prefer my tree right side up

I love those peacock feathers but not the upside down trees, they look creepy to me.. they have beautiful decorations though.

This is the first time I have seen upside down tree and about its beginning in the middle ages. It looks awkward being upside down. I like the peacock kaleidoscope that you have created.

Upside down trees are unique but definitely not my style.

Wow upside down trees are strange but they do look beautiful! They sure save the floor space :-) Very efficient that way!

Fascinating story and pretty decorations Ginny. Thanks for visiting, you can see all about Bunad's here:

http://mylittlenorway.com/2009/05/bunad-norwegian-traditional-costumes/

A Bunad is traditional clothing from Norway, varying depending on the area a person comes from. They are still worn for weddings and other special occasions. I will also add this link to my post, as I sometimes forget to explain further. I will also have a post in the very near future.

So interesting, Ginny. I'm pretty sure I have never seen an upside-down tree.

This post makes me miss the peacocks in my [arents neighborhood back in Orlando. :) Pretty peacocks, but the upside down tree is strange.
Happy Holidays!
