The Wheel

A couple weeks ago we were driving, and I saw something odd out of the corner of my eye. It was something in a yard, way behind a blue windmill.

I asked Phil to turn around, and we saw it was a Ferris Wheel! The house had a circular driveway, so we drove in.

There was an elderly man standing at the front door waving at us, so we drove over. I told him how much we loved the Ferris Wheel, and asked if it was for his grandchildren. No, it was not. The man was holding up a partially paralyzed arm because he was a stroke victim. He told us he had made this himself  to keep busy after his stroke. Though it did not actually work, he had put lights on it for after dark. He said when he had worked, he made all kinds of things. It was hard for him to talk and I could not understand where he had worked. But I was amazed that he had made this with only one working hand. And he had put it in the yard for all to enjoy.

“As I watched the four creatures, I saw something that looked like a wheel on the ground beside each of the four-faced creatures. This is what the wheels looked like: They were identical wheels, sparkling like diamonds in the sun. It looked like they were wheels within wheels, like a gyroscope.”
