We drove to North Carolina to meet with the plastic surgeons yesterday. We love the doctor! The dates for the to surgeries are September 14 and 15. There are three different procedures they can do, depending on how much was taken off the day before. One would be almost cutting his face in half vertically and pulling it over. It is a very hard surgery, and the O.R. will be loaded with doctors. Phil will be under general anesthetic maybe five hours.
I do not ask "Why us?" Because everyone goes through trials. A better question would be "Why not us?" I have strong faith. But yes, I am shaken, scared, sad, and almost unbelieving. God does not promise to spare us from trials, but He does promise to be with us during them. And I know that HE is. Thank you all for sticking by us through this hard time!! I will continue to give you updates, and I will return at some point!! My header is a picture of Duke University as we were driving up to it.

Sounds so bad. Do hope and pray whatever they do is successful and goes well. My heart breaks for what you two are going through. It is hard to not question why tho.

I can't even imagine how it would feel to be facing a surgery like that. I pray for both of you every day and will continue to do so until you've made it through

I'm glad you're sharing Ginny. Like you I don't see much point in asking "why" but at the same time it's probably kind of an instinct. Remember even Jesus on the cross did.

Oh Ginny - I hate this for both of you. When i got my diagnosis - I felt the same thing - not why me, but why not me. It still hurts. It goes make you wonder and think about God. Sometimes you wonder about God - BUT I AM GLAD THAT IN SPITE OF IT ALL YOU KNOW HE IS THERE! And HE is.
Hi Ginny, it is so encouraging to read your updates. You are so right! Our Heavenly Father promised to be with you through both your trials and your joy. We may not understand but we know and claim that He is still in control!
