How RUDE!

I am ending my week of bee posts with something I think you have never seen.

Did you know that bees are being artificially inseminated? They are!

Here are some photos I took of the procedure being shown on T.V.

Here is what I read about the reason for it:

Use of artificial insemination is not currently widespread within the industry, however some apiarists are using it to produce genetically favourable breeder queens or to make specific crosses.

Wow - I can't imagine that on a tiny insect!

Nature is perfect, and this seems strange to me. There are possibly consequences for doing things like this - contamination, who know? I feel bad for those bees.

Poor bee! But if they are in danger this may be a away to save them.

I had not heard this. This kind of stuff is far above my thinking. We sure need to work harder at keeping our bees safe. This world needs them for sure

I am no happy to see this, I can see where they might end up with a FrankenBee like Frankenstein. image a giant bee with a stinger much bigger than the ones they have. man is always trying to mess with what God created. like tomatoes that are like leather and tasteless because they did something to them to make them last longer.

What a process. My son is an entomologist, studied bees and was fascinated by their importance. Saving the bee populations is getting harder and harder.
