We spotted this Sun Spot in the sky the other day. It's real name is Sun Dog, but I prefer to call them Sun Spots. They usually occur when the sun is low in the sky, and sometimes there is one on each side of the sun. They are caused by a refraction of ice crystals high in the atmosphere.
And OF COURSE there were lots of wires. But Mr. Squirrel on the wire to the left is enjoying it.
“The sky invents echoes so the sun won’t shine alone.”

Beautiful photo, Ginny. Mr. Squirrel is cute.
Great photo. The squirrel is a great addition. :)
A sun dog glowing beside the wires and a nonchalant little squirrel as its witness makes even an ordinary sky feel quietly enchanted.
I thing I only have seen one sun dog and mine was round, around the sun from our back yard.. I wonder what the squirrel thought of it.. can a squirrel think?
Good catch!
I love that a squirrel photo-bombed your gorgeous picture, Ginny. They sure can be rascals!
This is a sweet sunspot and your creation of it on the header is so nice. How about Mr. Squirrel? Looks like he is in his own world.
Nice spot. Fun that you caught the squirrel on the wire too
They are so pretty! Nice catch of the squirrel too.
I didn't know this. I don't believe I have ever seen one. I'll try and be more observant.
Ooooo, very cool, Ginny. You always find interesting sights to share. I like the name "sun spots" too. ; )
Wishing you a merry and bright month of December.
